My husband is a big comic book fan, so weve been in many stores of trade and Nirvana Comics has by far been the best experience weve encountered. Customer service was fantastic and they were patient with all of our touristy questions. Free donuts and coffee on Wednesday? How perfectly persuasive! We just had to buy something in appreciation alone, but their collection is fantastic.Just another reason wed love to move to the area.Thank you to the owner for a great experience! Okay, Listen, this place is a haven! A year ago I decided on a whim to get back into comics and this place did not disappoint! When you are given a list to fill out for your subscription box and shown around the place by a comic book concierge you think to yourself... you know, this place is special! I love coming here every week and getting my books, chit chatting with the staff and being surrounded by a warm welcoming atmosphere! Everyone is very helpful and knowledgeable and the blackstock is quite extensive and a awe to look at. Also, if it means anything, whoever picks the music that is played in the store has excellent taste!

We had a great experience at nirvana! Our whole family found something to read. Store was really busy, but the workers were were still very helpful. Matt took the time to help us find what we needed. He never rushed or made us feel like we were bothering him even though we asked a hundred questions. Nirvana has so many different comics and books. Its very well organized. My wife had never been to a comic store and she was blown away by how organized and clean Nirvana is. We cant wait to come back!

I love Nirvana! I only recently got into comics and the people at Nirvana love to teach you and answer questions, I have yet to ask a question they didn’t have an answer to. You can tell they genuinely love what they do. I haven’t met many people who are as knowledgeable about what they do than these guys.

Love variety of books, but would avoid store. Store manager seems friendly, but is dishonest and will over charge monthly comic book store subscribers. If the comic book is a key, subscribers should only pay comic book cover price plus get a twenty percent discount off books as long as you purchase 7 books a month. The manager will charge at his discretion who/what. Inconsistent and unfair pricing policy. If the comic is a key book, even if your a monthly subscriber, store will mark up book for profit with a price sticker, sell on store shelf, instead of selling to monthly subscriber. Store requires your credit card number as monthly subscriber for comic books and charges your credit card for books you didn’t request.

Im new to Knoxville. Ive now visited each of the comic book stores in the area. Nirvana is far and away the best of them all! Ive never seen a store so clean and well organized. The staff was so friendly. They greeted me as soon as I came in. They welcomed me to town when I told them I just moved to Knox then gave me a quick tour of the store. I was honestly shocked by how well I was treated at Nirvana. As a woman, Im used to being ignored or oggled in a comic book store. Nirvana was the complete opposite of this. I was treated with a genuine respect. I will be a regular customer! Thank you for the experience.

My trip to Nirvana was my first time ever in a comic store. I did not think Id like it, but Nirvana blew me away! I could not believe how clean the store was. They even have a cute little section just for kids! Everything was so neatly organized. My husband and two sons found lots of stuff. I even found a book for myself. Im excited to read Saga. Everyone working at Nirvana was so helpful. They were so busy but still took time to help our family. Matt was especially great. Were going to make Nirvana a regular Saturday stop!

This is an amazing place great people they tend to do you pretty well with trades and purchases also they have a lot of comics and back issues that are hard to find My advice is to make this one of the first places you stop if youre truly a comic enthusiast.

My children are getting into comics and this shop was extremely helpful in helping me. The shop has a large selection of comics new and old. My favorite is the childrens section. This is prefect for my younger son who wants to read comics like his older brother. Highly recommend!

I have been to this place of business twice in the past year while my wife and I have planned our move from NC to Oak Ridge. I stopped by and met the co-owner Amber during my first visit. She was very warm and inviting, and completely non-judgmental regarding my comic taste and not being up to date on Marvel and DC lore and current storlines. Gatekeeping and strong opinions are a common occurrence in the comic world, so this was a very welcomed change of pace. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing during my last visit. Though I was met with the same helpful and friendliness from the guy working that day (I apologize Im horrible with names!). Again not judged for being horribly behind in the world of comics, and not being judged for my tastes. I can tell that this establishment is one that cares about its customers, and I didnt just catch somebody on a good day. I truly cannot wait to make Nivana comics my main comic shop once were finished moving to the area.

!!!WARNING!!!! Avoid store if possible! Sold comic books to Richard and front end manager, they both were not honest about the value of my books. In addition my friends who are subscribers to their store monthly are charged for bags and boards even though you can get them free when you buy a comic book.

We are regular visitors. We drive 60-80 minutes one way. On average we spend between $30-$150 when we go.The staff is intelligent and funny. They know their comic books and occasionally have signings and special events.There are always $10 trade paperbacks. I Hate Fairyland and Elsewhere are amazing, Dead Kings and the new Masquerade vampire comics are great choices too! Of course your classic Marvel and DC, Dark Horse, Top Cow and Image are always available!Eventually I hope to sell the comics Im working on with my friend Mitch Munster, First Catch, through them as well.A great place to go find amazing adventures to read about! Millions of lives lived on paper! Visit, hang out, get your new obsession going.Mad love to the Nirvana staff!

I have to give a MAJOR shoutout to Nirvana Comics Knoxville.We had some 12,500 comic books. Back in September they came, made an offer to sell them for us and provide some of the profit. Their arrangement for splitting profits was incredibly fair, and saved us the trouble of having to process and sell them individually online (with all the hassle that goes with that!).Within 2 months (60 days!!), they had loaded up all the boxes of comics (freeing up much needed space in our house), boarded them, bagged them, cleaned some of them, and sold every last one of them, netting us a very nice profit.They know their stuff, they know their business, and their connections are second to none. Id recommend them for any and all comic book needs, whether to buy or sell comic books.Thank you so much, Nirvana Comics!

I have never been more pleased with a shopping experience than I was going to Nirvana. I wish there was higher than 5 stars honestly. I am new to comics and my wife and I were greeted as soon as we walked in. I mentioned this to the person behind the counter, Darin, and he had multiple suggestions and actually walked over with me to show me where they were. Super helpful, clean and everyone masked and polite as can be. Will certainly be going back.

I went to this awesome shop on Saturday with my husband. My husband is in love with this place as they had everythinnngggg that he was looking for. I was able to wipe out their Neil Gaiman graphic novels and add some Gaiman comics to my obsessive collection. The guys at the front were helpful, kind and super personable. It was an excellent experience! We also purchased a comic created by one of the guys there, Cult of Dracula- an excellent read! I hope they get Sandman 4 and above in *wink wink*.

I told the great people at Nirvana what superheroes are my favorites and what I like to read, they found the perfect graphic novels for me. Im happy to call Nirvana Comics Knoxville my comic book home. I found Nirvana three years ago and fell in love. Wednesdays have become a family affair for my wife, two daughters and myself. Richard, Garin and the whole team are very friendly and go out of their wait to learn what you like and make suggestions about new things that you might like. The whole team is great work with and have created an environment where people genuinely enjoy meeting other comic book lovers. If youre a comic book collector DO NOT SLEEP on their subscription. Subscriptions are free and help them know what to order ahead of time. Comic book stores have to order 2 months in advance of the book release so being a subscriber helps the whole comic book business and those that become subscribers are very much taken care of. I could not more highly recommend these guys.

I called in October regarding a comic I was looking for, I asked the guy who answered the phone if they had it, he IMMEDIATELY, just said “no,” didn’t even bother to look for it, didn’t even seem to care. Like dude, I get it was a long shot of you guys having it but at least ACT like you’re interested in helping me.

We visited while on the way back home from a multi-state trip. Upon hearing that were were there, the store owner and his wife persoanlly came over, having been in the middle of dinner, to come talk to us and serve us. We talked about movies, the Virus, Knoxville - and Richs own comic book. I have been a long time customer of Rich and he puts immense passion into whatever he does. Whether it was the Browncoat Pub and Theatre, Nirvana comics... and whatever else comes next. Rich truly is a rising star, and Knoxville is lucky to have him. A great shop and a great location, run by an even better team. Highly recommended. No other shop like it.

I always love to stop in Nirvana Comics when Im in Knoxville. My family happens to be visiting me here in Tennessee from Florida and I wanted to send my younger siblings home with the gift of a new interest in comics. I brought them to the right place! The staff answered all their questions and didnt make them feel silly for asking them. Such a warm, welcoming environment. Even the other customers got in on the conversation. Thank you guys for helping to cultivate an interest that will keep these kids off their phones for a little while!

As a long time comic book reader I very much appreciate this store. The owners, Richard and Amber, are VERY knowledgeable about comics of all varieties and ages. It was my first time in the shop and as soon as I walked in, I knew I was in the right place! I saw a few books that I was interested in but at the moment they were still being sorted and priced. I asked the employee behind the counter about them & instead of saying “oh those aren’t ready yet” the employee asked me to pick out the ones I wanted, he priced them and I ended up buying all the ones I picked out, about 15 comics! Excellent customer service, awesome selection and great prices!! Definitely recommend this shop!

I had an extremely bad experience here back when they first opened and have avoided this place since!First off, I pay for all of my comics with cash. NEVER card. But in order to have a folder for my weekly comics I had to give him a card number, so I did. And you have to sign up for a YEAR contract, my issue with that is finances change, what if something happens and you have to skip a month? Well, here, you cant.EVERY Wednesday, whether I had comics drop that week or not, I got charged. Then on top of that had to pay for my comics when I picked them up! And he charged for bags and boards that come with the comics. I understand they cost, but I have NEVER been to a shop that charges for them when you have a folder.I simply asked about the charges on the card one day and what they were and he got hateful. He had no answer for most of the charges. So I had a list printed of my comics and the release dates and then I had my credit card statement and showed him that the charges and dates dont line up. I told him that I had ALWAYS paid cash for my comics, thats how I manage my collection budget. He lied straight to my face and told me that I NEVER paid with cash. He asked for proof but he never gave me receipts for my purchases so I didnt have any proof.So needless to say, this guy is swindler. I had to pay for comics I never got and had to double pay for mine!

This is going to be our go to shop. They have a good selection of comics and graphic novels. The guy working was really helpful and actually wanted to talk about the comics I asked about. We are planning on starting several subscriptions with them in the next few weeks. If this shop is in your area, I recommend stopping by.

My issue with this shop happened two and a half years ago. At the time I lived in Knoxville and was a regular customer. I brought in two comics.I wanted to send off for grading. I gave the clerk the books. I was not given a receipt. It cost ninety-five dollars to send them. I trusted them so I thought it wasn’t a big deal not to get a receipt. That was in April. After a couple of months I startedr asking them when the books should get back. They kept telling me cgc was behind. I had started a pull list in May. In July I had to move out of state. The owner said I signed a contract for a year. I agreed to have him ship the books to me. After two months of being charged for comics and not receiving them I called the owner. He was rude and explained to me how it works. He not going to ship them every week but once a month. I said ok and ask about the books I sent off. Again I was told cgc was behind. Another two weeks went by and nothing came. I drove to Knoxville but the owner was not in. I talked to the clerk. He said he does the pull list but didn’t know he was supposed to ship anything to me. I had been getting charged for books the whole time. He brought out my books. I was charged for books I didn’t want. If the books were tied to any of my titles on my list I was charged. I asked about my cgc books. He remembered me and was going to talk to the owner. He said he would give me store credit for the over charges. They kept the books I didn’t want. I never heard from anyone again. They stopped charging my account. I never received anything else from them. Since I was in a different state and had no receipt for anything I gave up. I checked the prices of the cgc books I never received. One has risen in value a couple hundred dollars. They basically stole over six hundred from me. I wrote this to warn people. Hopefully it helps someone.

Nerdvana comics is awesome! It was a little hard to find as its down behind the shopping center with the Art Galleria and Shoe Repair. It was my first ever trip to a comic book store, and Richard was so kind to us and very helpful. He is even putting aside a comic that Ive been waiting on and said he will special order anything I want. He also told us about ladies comic book night each month. Go to Nerdvana, you wont be disappointed!

I thought Id written this already. I should have. These guys are awesome, plain and simple. From the guidance I needed when I was exploring for what are now my favorites, to the perfect recommendations when I pick up my box each week, Nirvana staff always make each visit more than it could be. Theyve made wednesdays the best day of my every week.

The woman who works in the shop is amazing! She makes you feel at home from the moment you walk through the door. They also have a great amount of back issues and current books.That being said, marking up books before they are 2 weeks old and charging $.50 for bags and boards without telling customers is a little shady for my taste.

My wife and i travel all over the United States enjoying our retirement years. In doing so we both enjoy stopping in comic book stores, on the way. We became big fans of them watching the Big Bang Theory. Nirvana comics of Knoxville was one of the best ones we have visited. We usually don’t buy much but enjoy hanging out and visiting with the owners.
