Things started off on the wrong foot when I went in to pick up my truck and there were four people waiting inside with no employee in sight. It was 15 minutes before anyone bothered to come into the office from the point I arrived, so those people were waiting even longer. We picked up the truck using the app and immediately noticed significant damage that was NOT listed in the photos. Thank God we checked and didnt just accept them, because Im sure Uhaul would try and charge us for it. We did not get the blankets or dolly we asked (and paid for). We were also significantly overcharged. I have three different charges from them totaling over $430 when my final receipt says $170. I was also charged the $60 for the equipment I did not get. Customer service is a joke both at this location and the 800 number. Will be disputing this with my bank.

Pricing is deceptive. After returning my truck, I looked at my receipt and saw a 20% tax added (Indiana sales tax is 7%). So know that whatever price you are quoted up front will increase by 20% when you are billed.

I went into the store to order a hitch because no one ever answered the phone after calling twice & waiting over 45 minutes both times. They printed out my order and scheduled the appointment for a week & a half out. Appt is 3 days before I would need to use the hitch for moving out of state. I was promised that they would have it. We went in today to get it installed and they did not have the hitch. They said they would have a solution by 3pm- no one ever called. We are supposed to be moving- we have no hitch and no other means to move our stuff. I am incredibly frustrated and wonder if they gave our hitch to someone else. I am hoping they can make this right tomorrow, but as of now if I could give them zero or negative stars I would.

I scheduled a hitch installation to occur here on a Saturday and paid with three weeks advance notice. I showed up for my appointment only to be told by staff that they didnt have my hitch. I never received a courtesy call beforehand (you know, so I could avoid needlessly wasting my time on my weekend), yet staff didn’t seem at all surprised that my hitch wasn’t there. When I requested to be rescheduled for a hitch installation on another weekend, I was told by a worker “we don’t do hitch installations on weekends.” Slightly dumbfounded, I reminded the worker that today was in fact Saturday - a weekend. The worker then miraculously found another available Saturday appointment and booked it, again allowing three more weeks.Ridiculously, when I arrived for my rescheduled appointment, my hitch wasn’t there...again. After standing in line listening to workers being strangely rude to fellow customers for over an hour, staff determined that my hitch was in stock at a Muncie U-Haul location. So finally, after leaving my car and waiting over five hours for staff to drive to Muncie to collect my hitch, my hitch was installed. I never received even the tiniest of apologies, and they didnt bother to even feign urgency while I waited. Everyone was so bizarrely incompetent and rude here that I couldn’t even bring myself to get angry. I just laughed and stood there wide-eyed while scanning for hidden cameras, thinking I surely must be the victim of some elaborate prank. Even as I write this review, I still cant believe all of this actually occurred and how terribly dysfunctional this location actually is.So make no doubt – this place makes the local BMV look like its run by the dream team. I highly recommend avoiding this location at all costs.

The absolute worst customer service. I called and was on hold for 21 mins waiting to ask a simple question. The woman who answered the phone was yelling at me. When my boyfriend went to go pick up our u-haul, the employees said they didnt have the one I reserved. If I could rate this business -5 stars I would. Save yourself the stress and anxiety, DONT GO TO THIS U-HAUL LOCATION. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

Terrible service. I reserved a truck for 10 am on 6/05/21. When I went to pick up the truck the worker tells me the truck is not available in fact it’s not available until later in the day at 1pm. Keep in mind I had to be somewhere to use the Uhual by 10:30 am. Anyways I come back to pick up the truck at 1 pm and I was told my account has a hold on it due to some outstanding change on my account so Uhual is not allowed to rent the truck out to me. They give me customer service number to call. I call the number to only discover I have a no outstanding charge and they tell me they’re not sure why I had a hold on my account. I go back to get the truck. I get the truck but now it’s 1:30 pm. I was supposed to be somewhere with the truck by 1:30. That’s not even the worst part I still had to pay to use the truck. I received a $50 credit to my account but still had to pay to use the truck. For my time and the inconvenience of me having to reschedule and come back three times to get the truck should’ve been more than enough reason to get the truck for free. Frustrated with their service and this isn’t the first time I’ve had this happen. Would NEVER RECOMMEND this place EVER!

Literally called 5 minutes prior to arriving to make sure I could have my propane tank refilled...arrived and all the employees acted like they couldnt help...no rain no lightening for over 30 minutes of sitting in the parking lot.Go to DO IT YOURSELF HARDWARE store down the street...theyre nicer and will actually provide good service...thats where I ended up

I have never had an issue with uhaul out of all the years we have been moving, this location, everything was fine until it came time to hook the trailer up. I was told they couldn’t hook the trailer up because we didn’t have a 2in hitch, we’ve been towing with our 1 & 7/8 hitch for years and the man who was helping us wanted to give us an attitude about it and be rude. I asked to speak to a manager, no manager on duty but when he went to go get someone higher up he then came back out and was like okay we can hook it up (which I already knew) but had an attitude and his remark was “If something happens that’s on yall” very rudely and was rude to my dad the entire time he was hooking it up and just walked away with an attitude, Work on your customer service skills at this location!!!!! Rude rude rude !

$45 in hidden fees - you wont see it until they bill you. The penalty for renting (pick-up and return on same day) $20. Cleaning fee, even if you leave the truck spotless, $25. Rip off.

Overall, the customer experience and truck were really good. I think the truck needed some new tires and it would be nice to have a light in the back, but beside that everything was great. I had to extend my reservation by a day and the team was very helpful through the process.

Normally Id tell you that this is the Uhaul place in Indy to go, because all my other moves Ive used this store without an issue. Now l let me preface this by saying there were NO ISSUES WITH MY MOVE. However, I tried to contact them by phone 3 weeks prior to my reservation to see if I could change the time and to see if I could pre-pay since the person with the credit card had to be at the destination waiting for new furniture to arrive. THEY NEVER ANSWERED THE PHONE OR RETURNED A CALL!! I LEFT SEVERAL MESSAGES!! I actually had to drive all the way to the store three days before my reservation to find out if I could pre-pay!! I didnt even care anymore at that point about changing the pick up time. And when I get there, the store is empty, and the clerk behind the counter was reading a comic book. Seriously?? Thats why you couldnt pick up the phone for 21 days?? Hopefully this will be my last move and I wont need Uhaul ANYMORE!! Recommend but in person ONLY!! sadly.

Never set your checkout time for when they’re not opened! The checkout process took an hour due to technical glitches with their website. I had to call customer service multiple times, but they kept putting me on indefinite hold or just forwarding me to the phone number of the location I was at (which was closed!). Once I was finally able to check out the van, I couldn’t even find it since it wasn’t where it was supposed to be. I had to walk around the lot in the snow looking for it myself. I finally found and it and went in to get the key, but none of the lock boxes were even closed/locked! On top of all of this, the tires in my van had a warning light for low air pressure!!

The owner Mason set up my account an when I went to move into my storage unit the gate would not open it has a number at the gate to call if your code does not work it was the owners cell phone he would not answer it after several attempts he texted me an said he was in bed come back tomorrow it was 9 pm so I had to use a friends garage for the other half of my stuff because he messed up my account so I wasted my money with these people !! Will never do my business with this place again

Clean trucks and efficient service. I would gladly have given 5 stars but a long line of customers with reservations and very busy plans that day were waiting outside until the doors were opened @ 9:19 am. I hope that this delayed open is a very rare occurrence since every other aspect of this location was top notch. But, having arranged for people to help load the truck, getting in the door 20 minutes later and then another 20 to get checked out with a key put a big kink in the timeliness of the day and inconvenienced a lot of people.

To say I’m disappointed is a gross understatement. I have rented from Uhaul for many years but my last rental was my last. I was late for my pick up (my fault, I entered wrong time on reservation.) However, the reservation was still held with my credit card. When I was finally helped, the employee said “you know you’re late right?” And I said “I apologize I must’ve entered wrong time.” She responded “yeah well as adults we should respect other people’s time.” I was so baffled, I didn’t even respond. The demeanor and attitude of this employee was absolutely unacceptable. I don’t think I have ever been impressed with customer service here but this took it to another level. After returning the trailer, I went and bought one so I would never have to return. The only reason I gave 2 stars and not 1 is the gentleman who hooked up the trailer, apologized for her behavior without me saying a word, and was very helpful and professsional.

Great staff, and if youre in Indianapolis this is the place to go. Its the largest dealership, they always have the equipment you need. the storage is incredibly reasonable, less than any other place Ive found. They have a whole section of storage units that are actually the boxes off the backs of U-Haul trucks... so if you need to store the stuff in a 26-foot truck, you can get a storage unit of exactly the same size (including the attic!) and know its going to fit. Management is very friendly and responsive.

We made an appointment to have a trailer hitch installed on our vehicle. About an hour after dropping it off, they called to say that the holes for the bolts were too corroded and they couldnt install the hitch (supposedly this is typical of our specific vehicle). My dad used to be a mechanic and is handy with cars (he just didnt have time to do the work himself), and after the appointment he checked the holes they were referring to. He spent at most 20 minutes with some WD-40 and a wire brush, and was able to successfully insert bolts into all of the holes. It seems like this location was just too busy or lazy and didnt want to do the work. We scheduled an appointment at the Lawrence location and they were able to install the hitch with no trouble, and did a wonderful job. The Lawrence location was much better to work with and updated the online order with what would work best for our vehicle, and it ended up cheaper than expected. I would not recommend the Castleton location for trailer hitch installs.

She interrupts you constantly and hangs up on customers.I asked her if she could look if there were any u hauls that could fit a few rooms worth available easily on Friday and Saturday. I called this location looking for moving supplies. The gentleman I spoke to today was very pleasant and informative. When I arrived at the store, a register clerk by the name of Danielle was yelling at a family who were calm and talking to her normally. She threatened to cancel their reservation and continuously vocalized her displeasure with them while they said only to not “cancel [their] reservation.” My visit was cut extremely short when she complained about their use of a language that was not her own. Intolerance is not acceptable especially by someone who is supposed to be in a “customer service” position. I will not support a business who employs someone like this and she knows that this review is coming.

Worst. Customer. Experience. Ever! I would give negative stars, if possible. I physically visited the business to reserve a small trailer over a week and a half in advance. On the morning of p/u, I confirmed by telephone the trailer was there. I then went in and stood in line for over 75 minutes. After finally getting to the front of the line, filling out all the paperwork, submitting credit card information, and then driving to the back lot so they could hook up the trailer -- only then was I told there was no trailer.I then had to go back inside and wait to get paperwork changed. There was no apology, and no effort to make things right. Only after my strong insistence did they look to see if there was another trailer at another location in town; there was, but I had to travel a half hour (each way) to that other location, fill out new paperwork, before driving away with the trailer. At this point, I was now over 2 hours late for leaving on a family trip, with over ten hours of drive time ahead of me. Only after I made a significant complaint did this dealer offer me a $50 credit, which was not even close to the cost of renting the available trailer from the other dealer. During our trip, we also dealt with the fact that because I filled out paperwork at first and second dealer, we had two rental reserves charged to our credit card. Eventually one was credited, but that took many days to accomplish. I will never do business with U-Haul of Castleton, again. Lesson learned.

I would agree with what Google has found so far. This is a solid 3 * business. The employees do not seem overly concerned about helping anyone out or moving quickly. Yes theyre good at attaching a trailer to the back of my truck but moving is stressful and you expect a little bit more from a national brand like U-Haul.

No customer service. Ladies here dont worry about customers. I spent almost an hour waiting. Worst of all, they didnt refund my $20 when i told them i refilled the truck up to F instead of 3/4. They wont allow anyone cheats them, but they cheated me. No U-Haul in my life again😔😔. As for you, don’t go there.

Unorganized, unprofessionalI reserved my u-haul from the Castleton location two weeks before my move from Indiana to California. I expected to be organized and efficient, two things that this location was not. I spoke to a few different staff members as I planned my move, one rep helped me change my reservation from a 10 ft tuck to a 15ft to make sure I had enough room and compared prices, I really appreciated this! Thinking everything was set up I arrived to pick up my U-haul only to be told the truck I reserved had been STOLEN! They ended up putting me in a 20ft that was WAY too big, cost me more on gas and was more difficult to maneuver! After speaking to the staff and confirming my reservation in person, on the phone and email I think they should have handled this situation differently!

Ive been keeping my greenhouse heated most of the winter with propane from this location. Today I was told that they are too busy to fill my propane tanks. I guess they do enough business that my hundreds of dollars per month arent needed.The manager gave me $50 free propane and so far there has not been another issue.

I thought the customer service was okay until I had a hitch installed. The tech either lied or messed up on the labor hours costing me more money. When brought to their attention the rep said thats what the tech entered so thats what it is and theres nothing I can do about it. I recommend staying away from here. If you do go, make sure to watch your bill closely.

I could give all the nitty-gritty details of how terrible the service was at this location, and Uhaul in general, for ruining my moving day, but Im going to try and leave this big picture. As someone who has worked in customer service her whole life, I have never once been so angry with other individuals who work in customer service. I understand the grind of dealing with people all day, but oh my god, this was unfathomable. I walked away and ended up at Home Depot to rent a truck instead (highly recommend going there for any rental needs). I hate that I am even wasting my time leaving a review, then again, Uhaul wasted my time for TWO months making me believe I had a confirmed reservation. Employees were rude to customers and even to one another. It was embarrassing and uncomfortable.

Ive read the negative reviews, and like anything, there will be people who cant be satisfied. I have rented trucks from this location multiple times a year for 5 years, and the staff has always bent over backwards to be helpful. At times I felt guilty accepting so much good customer service. I understand Chuck may not be at this location anymore, but he was one of the best customer service managers I have ever met. So, from the point of view of a long time repeat customer, I have to say they have been great to work with.

I would give a zero if possible! No one returns your calls. Carrie kept telling not to worry everything is taken care of. Not true. Went to move some things out of my unit. Giant roaches,ceiling falling in,spiders & rodents & droppings.Movers did not want to go inside. I took pictures & have witnesses. 1st time & last time I will ever use a storage unit Uhaul Castleton. Our family belongs are now useless. Rats carry disease. I have young children & a new home. There is no way I can bring anything from Storage to my new home. Upset & disgusted .Still have not had anyone from Uhaul reach out to me. Do not use this facility!!!

Not related to the location, but I had too many issues with the website to use it to confirm my reservation.I had some trouble with a store associate on pickup and with stuff I requested not being available, but spoke with the manager at dropoff and felt like my complaints were taken seriously and were either explained thoroughly and/or will be addressed.

Angie & Josh restored my faith in Uhaul after a vile situation in Carmel(550 S Rangeline). Angie, Team Leader, was extremely polite, corrected our incorrect billing & our extra large truck was ready immediately. We got there just before closing & both Angie & Josh stayed until everything was finalized, without rushing. I wouldnt hesitate to use this branch again & I would recommend it to anyone.

I was told a hitch would be done in two hours. 3 and a half hours later I asked for an update (I was waiting). I think someone just left to get the hitch.No further update was provided in time.If possible find somewhere else to go.

After loosing my travel trailer and tow vehicle, I rented a truck to bring back my belongings. On the way home I received a call from u-haul wanting to know when I would arrive back home. I said, I was on the way home and should be home by 11 am. They wanted to know if I could return the truck early, instead of the next day at noon because someone wanted the truck. I returned it and ask for a deduction in my bill since I was returning it one day early. The response was no! Not impressed that they would not even consider a refund.

Their storage is EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. It is not worth it. The units are no better than every other storage facility. The customer service is garbage! Im moving to another storage place and getting 50% more space for 60% of the price. I always liked Uhaul until I used this location.

I took my van in to have a trailer hitch installed. Uhaul (other locations) has in my experience done a good job with such things. I was told they couldnt install the hitch because the bolts they had to use for mounting were rusted in. That was fine. I understand that. I told them I wanted them to still do the wiring, and while they were hesitant, they did it. I took the van home to install the hitch myself and noticed the wiring on the hitch plug was quite sloppy (wires hanging loose and the plug was wire tied to the outside of the van rather than inside). This is a work van, and Im a pretty busy guy, so it took a couple of weeks before I had time to address the situation. I called Uhaul several times and got a recording telling me to leave a message. In the meantime, I sent an email to Uhauls customer service. I got a call from a person saying I could bring the van in the next day and they would take care of the problem. I went to the location and that person wasnt there. I was told it would be an hour before they could look at the vehicle. After some phone calls, it was decided the original caller would call me when he returned to the location. He did, I took the van back and I showed him what my concerns were (for example, the plug being outside the van and not in, say, the spare tire well, he said, but we wouldnt want to drill a hole in the tire well to run the wire to the inside) I said that they wouldnt have to because all the wires they needed to access were in the tire well. They could do all the necessary wiring inside the van. He took the van back to the shop and brought it out a short time later. They had drilled a hole in the tire well and ran the wire through to the inside, which also left the wire too short to reach outside the van for attachment. As for the wire hanging loose, they just clipped the wire ties that had been sticking out. They never rerouted the wire. Their fix actually made the situation worse than the problem.Uhaul will never touch my vehicles again.

Like the Seinfeld episode, they know how to make a reservation, they just dont know how to complete the transaction. On site manager told be he could not help me. Poor Management. Budget Trucks are less expensive, better maintained, and they know what a reservation means.

Had to wait 45 mins to pick up the truck (there was only 1 1/2 person working. the 1/2 because the other staff member would disappear for several minutes then reappear). The general manager was the one who handed us the keys. When we commented it had been a long wait she answered Sometimes the wait is 3 hrs. The attitude of the staff was disrespectful and acted as if this type of service is what we should expect. When we returned the truck no one was outside we had to go in twice to ask for assistance. Another customer said he had been waiting 30 mins just to drop off. Throughout our experience the general attitude from the staff seemed to be too bad if youre in a hurry because we dont care.

Staff here is incompetent. Been sitting here over an hour and half since my scheduled appointment and they still have not started my vehicle install for the trailer hitch. Hate writing a bad review but experienced the same thing again last time o was here because the didnt have my wiring harness in stock. This place sucks.

UBox specialist is very friendly and helpful and fit me into an apparently tight schedule. Then she decides to ship my UBoxes without my approval. She told me she thought I told her to ship them, which I never did. The UBoxes didnt go out but $3000 came out of my checking account. Of which, $1000 was never explained. After making sure my money was put back into the account the Uboxes finally get shipped out. I will definitely be renting a truck from elsewhere for my next move.

Ive rented trucks from this location multiple times. The customer service has gotten significantly worse with each rental. The associate with whom Ive interacted on my last 2 visits was not helpful and rude in both encounters.

Horrible experience with scheduling a truck. It ended up in the wrong location 3 hours late. The manager of this store said they would refund me $50 for my trouble and, two weeks later, I have not seen a single penny back. I will never use U-Haul again.

The customer service clearly suck. The staff rather talk to each other then help the customers waiting. I wouldnt recommend this place to my enemy. By the way do not get a 5x10, storage is smaller than 3 of my feet and i wear a size 10
