After 10 years of not owning a car due to living downtown in a big city, my partner and I moved to Santa Fe, having purchased a lovely but pretty run-down 2008 Ford Escape. I knew we needed a good deal of service to keep our car running, so I looked up local reviews, and really liked what I read about Ari doing a full work-up on your car, and helping you prioritize what repairs should be done first, second, and so on. And thats exactly what it was like. Complete transparency, thorough attention to detail, and really good repair work. Amy at the front desk is invaluable and extremely kind and friendly as well. At pick up, Ari took the time to stay past closing to explain exactly what they had done, and walk me through how to maintain important aspects of my car, since it had been such a long time since Id owned. And to top it off, a few weeks after all the repairs were done, I was rear-ended. I called up Amy, who told me to just have it towed there. Without even telling me they were going to do it, they just paid the tow-truck driver, and held my car until the insurance approvals had gone through. Ari patiently got on the phone with me a few times, explaining the process, and helping me figure out how to save the most money during the repair process. Really cant say enough about the personal service and attention to detail at Master Tech.

Ari and his team are among the best master mechanics we have ever gone to. Ari is extremely detailed and thorough in his explanation of the diagnosis and work performed on the vehicle. They are truly masters at working on Ford vehicles, specifically our Ford Focus. I would definitely recommend Ari and his shop for any and all repair and diagnosis needs. The staff, specifically Amy, are so attentive and reassuring. Ari was able to diagnosis an electrical issue with our brakes and fix the issue and had us back on the road in a reasonable amount of time and at a fair price. We also felt so confident in his shop that we have them do a complete mechanical inspection of the vehicle. Again, a great service, and they identified and addressed several issues and now are vehicle is back on the road in tip top shape.

Ari is a great guy. My wife and I are on our honeymoon and started feeling some trouble with our transmission & Ari took us right away to help get us back on the road. He was very knowledgeable and very cool. Knows a lot about Ford Vans & Trucks! Especially the old school ones like my 86 E150. Highly Recommend!!!

Master Tech is the best auto shop Ive been to. I drive a 94 Mazda B3000 with 280K miles on the original motor, and Ari & the Master Tech team have kept it on the road and reliable. Ari is honest, thorough, and very skilled. If you ask, for a small fee he will make recommended repairs with quotes–each job is prioritized and it gives you a good sense of what is to come for your vehicle. I also like to do easier jobs at home, and Ari would recommend which ones I should get into or not. He would personally show me the repairs made, and the 2-year warranty is the real deal on parts and labor. This place is busy all the time because such good mechanics are hard to come by. Plan the time to get your car worked on, be patient, and you will see results at Master Tech.

We are traveling around the country touring in our Motorhome, towing a car.... based out of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C. ....... we were in Albuquerque, changed our own motor oil and after we started up to pull out, the Motorhome hesitated on kicking into gear to move. We were perplexed.We drove to Sante Fe, spent the night in a Walmart parking lot. Got up to leave the next day and the Motorhome really had trouble getting into gear. We were very confused. Looked on Google map for a garage that could check out our Ford Triton V-10. We found the closest place was Master Tech Auto Repair.We definitely made the right decision. The owner Ari Gordon came out...especially since we were blocking the road with our Motorhome towing a car, and we told him our situation and he immediately checked under the hood and diagnosed what the problem was. Which turned out to be out of transmission fluid ????.He had one of his mechanics come out and add a few quarts. Originally Ari said he wouldnt charge us for such a quick fix, but it ended up taking way more than a quart of ATF. So paying a reasonable amount for service provided to us on the street was not an issue. We were more than happy to compensate.The quick response to our desperate need and providing honest mechanical needs to people not knowing any garage..... priceless!!!Good to know there are reliable, honest and knowledgeable mechanics out there.Great job Ari and new technician Sam.

I serviced my truck here once. Service was OK. The office isnt good about updating our returning phone calls. I have tried to book appointments twice now for diesel repair, but unable to get thru, and my messages are never returned. I will be servicing else where.

Ari and team do excellent work. They tried all they could to save my Cummins Turbo engine in my 04 RAM 2500 but finally came down to installing a lower mileage used one. The entire process took just two weeks, even with the time spent to try and save it. Everything was explained thoroughly. Runs like new now and has warranty! Awesome. Amy, the receptionist was so welcoming,accommodating,and genuinely concerned about my issues with my car and immediately scheduled an appointment right away.The mechanic,Ari was so knowledgeable and detailed about the issue I came in with and took his time to explain to me what was wrong and what needed to be fixed. Of all the mechanics I have been to in my lifetime, this shop is far and above the best of all of them. I have been taking my truck here for about seven years now and have always had quality work done. On top of that, Ari (the owner) has always been really good about respecting my available budget and helping to prioritize what work needs to be done right away and what can wait until I have more funds available. From what I have seen, Ari checks every vehicle and takes it for a test drive after his mechanics are done with it and before returning it to the customer and always takes the time to go over the work that was done and answer any questions I have. Customer service is the name of the game at this shop. Every time I take my truck in it comes back with a few small things fixed for free that I didnt even ask for. This last time the rattling side view mirror was fixed, the sticky door ajar switch was cleaned, and my dusty dashboard was wiped clean. Without me even asking! This shop is an easy five stars, which is rare for mechanics anywhere. Highly recommended.

As a woman finding an auto mechanic who listens and understands and does not resort to condescension or simply blow off anything I have to say about whats wrong with my vehicle is golden. An honest mechanic who has built his reputation on the principle of integrity is usually considered an oxymoron. Not so, in the case of Master Techs owner and head mechanic, Ari Gordon. He listens, he checks it out, he gives a printed estimate of work needed and if he encounters a bigger problem, he calls. No surprises when I go to claim my vehicle.I first used Ari and Master Tech after spending $3500. on an electrical problem no one else could locate. It took Ari a day or so to find the problem, BUT HE FOUND IT and repaired it. As a customer, that was worth the extra money to know the problem was solved once and for all. Also he always reviews what was done with my car and takes my vehicle for a test drive with me in case I have any questions. I recommend him highly to friends, especially woman friends. I have been using Master Tech for many years and have never regretted it.His staff has been with him for years and as a small business owner myself, that loyalty and the cheerful work environment speaks volumes.

I have been having my Fords serviced at Master Tech Auto Repair for more than twenty years. My current Ford is a 99 Taurus. I like this car because of its comfort and modest appearance, and sometimes use it for travel in Mexico. I can count on Master Tech to keep it running reliably. Ari and his wife Tammy founded and still run the company, it has grown into a good-sized shop with an excellent reputation. They use modern diagnostic equipment and careful record-keeping to make sure my Ford doesnt surprise me with trouble. When I bring it in for servicing Ari personally checks it over and often drives it around putting it through its paces. And when Im around I see that hes doing the same for his other customers. The guy is a life-time gear head and knows his Ford/Mercurys inside and out. Ive been to the dealer (sorry Ari) where you talk to the desk guy and the service tech is some unknown entity (perhaps a teen-age trainee) and thats not for me.

We had a tough situation. We were visiting Santa Fe from 1,300 miles away. It took Master Tech three tries to fix our car, but the diagnosis was hard--another mechanic got the same false diagnosis Master Tech did. But the people at Master Tech fully understood the urgency of our situation, and went above and beyond to ease it, and given the false diagnoses we werent charged the full cost for labor. Aces.

Our family of 4 was traveling through Santa Fe on vacation. We broke down and called Master Tech to see if there was any way they could work us in that day. I cannot praise their work enough; they were extremely friendly, even going so far as to have employees move their parked cars to find room for us to drop the 5th wheel trailer we were pulling while our truck was worked on. The mechanic was extremely knowledgeable and they got us back on the road before closing time. Their price was fair, even though they could have really stuck it to us since we were in a bind. We had a great experience with Master Tech. We are tourists, and the dreaded Check Engine light had come on in our 13-year-old Ford Ranger. Relying on Google + reviews, we came here and had excellent service. Ari was very thorough in diagnosing the problem and gave me specific, to-the-penny estimates of what it would cost to repair it. When we went to pick it up, Ari took me for a test drive in it (the difference was noticeable), suggested a few things I might want my mechanic at home to do in the next six months, and popped the hood to show me the work his guys had done. In addition to that, the waiting room and restroom are spotless, have really great magazines, and Amy at the front desk gave us lots of good tourist advice. We are off in the newly-repaired truck to investigate one of her suggestions this afternoon.

I was turned on to Master Tech Auto Repair in Sante Fe, NM by a friend. Had them replace the original glow plugs in my sisters Diesel Jeep. The #4 Glow Plug was broken off and even when the ceramic core came out the metal sleeve stayed in.... they ended up tapping the sleeve, fitting a bolt in with lock-tite and pulling it out... They originally quoted 3 hours for the swap (which seemed very expedient).... By my math they probably put in 20+ hours on the issue (the owner was working on the jeep and texting me at 1am because he knew we were anxious to get on the road. They only ended up charging us for 8 hours of labor. The owner Ari, and all of his techs and people in the front office are amazing.... wonderfully positive and incredibly helpful. I couldnt recommend a mechanic anymore than these guys!

I found Mastertech after careful research in 1998. I have had good and bad mechanics in the past and wanted someone who would do the job right the first time, communicate clearly what the issue is and not overcharge. I have used Mastertech ever since - first on my 1984 Ford Bronco and later on my 1991.Ari has always let me know ahead of time what items need immediate work, which items can wait or are optional and how much it will cost BEFORE he does the work. When I have had questions, he has gone as far as actually showing me in detail where the problem is and breaking down what needs to be done. They use quality parts which usually come with warrantees. I know once they work on my vehicles, I dont have to worry about unexpected breakdowns which is really important to me since I am driving them almost every day.

If you want to get mercilessly overcharged, scammed or both – Mastertech is your place.Ari Gordon (the owner) is a living testament to why most mechanics are notorious for such bad rep.As one of the reviewers pointed out a while ago, Ari is out for blood.My experience is a bit different though pretty similar in nature. A simple oil and fuel filter change which Ari quoted me at $43 + tax turned into a $150 bill. To top that off Ari took 4 full hours to do an at most 1.5 hour basic job.Now, Im not the type of person to nickel and dime, especially when it comes to my business vehicle. And I honestly dont ever mind paying top dollar for the job done right. However when someone like Ari Gordon pulls some despicable, low-rent B.S. on me, this used car salesman weasel deserves every bit of my wrath.Here is how this went down. When I called his shop, the receptionist (Misty) gave me a quote after putting me on a long hold. Then she proceeded to tell me that theyll have a loaner vehicle for me when I show up, because they were highly concerned about me waiting around. I thought that was kind of weird, since nobody ever offered a loaner vehicle for such a small job as an oil & fuel filter change but decided to play along. When I showed up at the shop the receptionist let me know they ran out of those mystery loaner vehicles they promised, to which I replied: Not a big deal, Ill wait.Four full hours later Ari came out with my bill. Looking through it I noticed he charged me $50 extra for a little plastic cap for the fuel filter, which nobody mentioned anything about previously. There was also an extra $43 labor charge on top of that. When confronted, Ari made up an elaborate story of how he had to personally drive to the dealership to buy the cap, which is why a 1hour job took him 4 hours to complete.In addition to that Ari tried to sling me over $1,700.00 worth of repairs he was convinced I needed right away.Smelling Aris B.S. about this whole outrageously not believable story, I personally drove to the dealership (there is only one in Santa Fe) to confirm my suspicions. As it turned out, Ari had lied through his rotten teeth. The dealer didnt have those fuel caps in stock all day and informed me Id had to order one. When I asked: Are you sure nobody bought one from you earlier today? the parts department guy looked at me like I had a fetus growing out of the side of my head. Did I just not tell you, we havent had them in stock all day, and youd need to special order one if you want it? Thats all I needed to hear.(As a side note the dealer price on those caps is $32.38+ tax. Ari charged $49.13.Everyone knows dealers prices are usually the highest around.)When I went back to Mastertech to confront Ari, he kept insisting that he really did drive to the dealer to buy that cap. Except for the moment when I asked him to show me the receipt. At that point Ari turned around and ran back into his shop with his tail between his legs yelling something to the effect of: Im finished talking to you because of your attitude.Truthfully, that $50 extra for the stupid cap and extra $43 for labor is not what really infuriated me. It was Aris cunning way of nickel-and-diming a potentially lucrative long-term customer/mechanic relationship. I have a total of three vehicles. Between my truck a sedan and a business van I would probably have given Mastertech thousands of dollars over the years had Ari been a decent human being and not a scumbag most people view most mechanics to be. Unfortunately Ari fully embraced that stereotype a little too well that day.From now on Im taking all my vehicles to the dealership. A little extra money is well worth not dealing with slime-bags like Ari ever again.So if youre still wandering if you should take your car to Ari at Mastertech, your wallet and your time have my most sincere condolences.
