I have been going to this shop for nearly a decade. They have always taken care of my vehicle and treated me right. This shop has my complete trust when it comes to what work my Jeep needs to have done and what elements should be on my radar to have work done in the future. That is hard trait to find in shops today. They stand behind the work that they do and have gone above and beyond to keep my Jeep running in top condition.

Mid 2021 I found myself in Santa Fe with a broken down Ford Expedion. I know, I know, (insert Ford joke here). I was 90% sure my fuel pump had gone out and started looking up places to get it repaired as I was in Santa Fe from out of town and had zero of my tools with me to take on the task. Low and behold I found this repair shop just 2 blocks down from me and after calling around they gave me the most reasonable price to take on the job. However in the end, I took my buisness somewhere else before I even took my SUV in. My reasoning had nothing to do with the place of buisness it self, but when Googleing the location, a lot of info about the Owner/mechanic came up where he says alot of disparaging things about Native Americans in his personal Facebook posts and on his YouTube channel series. Being Native American myself, I didnt want to give my money to such a person and support someone who speaks ill of my people. So, there you go.

Planned to have a 7gen Ford truck worked on here before shipping out of state... before reading the owner’s vile comments about indigenous people in local facebook groups. Just totally pathetic, but on a professional level, I don’t trust someone to do extensive repair work on trust and some phone calls, when their free time is spent slandering people in their own community. Just seems two-faced. I don’t trust that when that friendly call ends, their motivations and integrity won’t change as well. Be a better neighbor and see your business grow.

Alex Safety Lane is the best. Always reasonable and very competent. I have never had a bad experience with them and have been going there for years.

I hear they upcharge. Dont know. Their really nice and have a high volume of repeat customers. Had negative supporting comments from two different sources. Cant really say.

Ben and are the nicest people to work with! They always spend my money well in fixing my old vehicle making it take me as far as I can without going over budget for each visit!

Ive been to shops where many mechanics take advantage when they see a young guy come in not knowing what is going on. When I came here, they were very honest, and told/showed me exactly what had to be done and where each problem was. They answered all my questions. They encouraged me to get the more minor stuff done later so i could have enough money to pay for it all. Very awesome customer service, I am 100% coming back to get the rest of the problems done.

Very positive experience getting work done on my car here. They got my clutch fixed ahead of schedule, and they even caught a few minor things that they took care of for me on the house. I highly recommend them. If I lived in the same city, Id only come to them from now on.

Simply the best auto repair shop in Santa Fe! We have been taking our car(s) there since 2006! Eleven years. Then we had a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Classic Supreme. The previous place had told us we needed a new engine! Got a second opinion from Safety Lane and they repaired the problem without having to replace the engine! When we sold the Olds in 2015, it STILL ran perfectly!They take beautiful care of our Honda Civic. EVERYONE I speak to has nothing but praise for them. They are honest, they stand behind their work and they keep costs to the customer in mind. They have won many awards for Best of Santa Fe. WONDERFUL people!

This place is amazing! after receiving 2 quotes for over $1500, we took our minivan to Alex Safety Lane and they said we didnt need the repairs that we were quoted and instead fixed the problem for less than $300. they are also amazing when you call and inquire about needing repairs: when I called about my brothers car repair they looked up the part and found it wasnt available anymore. technician suggested we find the part elsewhere and they would only charge for labor (and its very reasonable!). would 100% reccomend.

This is my go-to place. Not the absolute cheapest, but in my experience extremely honest (and therefore where I believe will be cheapest in long run). Havent been upsold and have experienced multiple times where I was told to hold off, watch but dont yet replace, etc...

It really saddens me having to write this review. I have been going to Alex for about 12 years and have spent a lot of money there, yes, mechanic work is not cheap. This time I referred my dad to visit Alex, I trusted him and I dont mind paying for quality work. With some convincing my dad agreed. On a Friday my dad took his truck in for diagnostic $55 and was told it was a water pump($275 parts and labor). Fine, we agreed to have the work done by the professionals -->BIG MISTAKE! Monday he takes the truck in and the work took one working day. Here we were on Tuesday near St. Michaels Dr. low and behold a hose burst. My dad is 77 and on a fixed income, he has no running vehicle and this incident has now placed a strain on our relationship and he no longer trusts me and we are not speaking. It is unfortunate the PROFESSIONALS couldnt diagnose a hose in their diagnostic and now they want another $300 to repair something they didnt know was going to happen......wait! Isnt that their business? Thanks for anticipating our needs and giving us quality work and service. #nolongertheBestofSantaFe

Great auto repair shop, family owned, excellent customer service

I went to Alex Safety Lane because I was new to Santa Fe having moved from Denver where I had a very honest and reliable mechanic. Not knowing where to turn to when my car broke down, someone recommended them to me based on 16 years of good service. However, over an 18 month period I not only had to drive all the way back to Denver to have work they did on my engine mounts redone TWICE, they also tried to convince me my clutch was shot when I just needed an oil change. They literally told me I had maybe 3-4 days, a week TOPS, because it was unsafe to drive. But if I had them fix it now and not wait, they would charge me less money. Because of the bad service I had experienced previously, I asked for my car back just in case, and had someone else look at it. They said the entire car was more than fine. I continue driving on the same clutch a FULL YEAR after they told me I was in dire need of a new one! DO NOT GO TO ALEX SAFETY LANE, THEY ARE DISHONEST!

It took a long time even with an appointment. They scratched my car. I found something that needed to be fixed after I got it back. They are nice guys in there but theres a lot of room for improvement.

I went there twice. The first time they torqued my head bolts down without me asking and charged me for it. I am lucky they did not break.The second time my front suspension was making a bad rattle, they said yeah we hear it, but dont know what it is, that will be 50 bucks... true story, I will not be a returning customer, I gave them a chance twice. My control arm bolts were loose, they should have noticed that in the $50 diagnostic.

Was here while looking for a used car. No luck, but these guys were super kind, and put me in touch with one of their mechanics who had a vehicle for sale. Didnt end up buying it, but was inpressed with Alex Safety Lanes employees and their customer service--even for someone who technically wasnt a customer!
