Im extremely happy I was reccomend to Gilmores Music Store for my turntable service. From the start the staff was extremely friendly and easy to speak with, the pricing was very fair as well. Big shout out to Andre the work he did and his ability to break down everything to me step by step was great. He communicated frequently with updates and was very knowledgeable that I feel like I learned so much from our conversations. I highly recommend this store.

Great place to pick up new guitar strings for my guitar. They are fast, reliable, and the price is right. They have a variety of instruments to purchase from. I love that they have many different guitars to choose from as well.

Its bitter sweet. Its nice to see a mom and pop music store because as apposed to the big store that dont tend to value an individual customer as much. However; my local sam ash store treated me better, the owner Mr Gilmore tends to dictate what will be done on your instrument instead of just giving an expert opinion.

I can in to ask about an accordion I have. The owner was nice and gave me a rough estimate he thinks its worth. The staff was friendly and they have a nice assortment of instruments. Only downside is that there is no parking really.

I was playing a song on the woodblock while having service to my guitar and the old guy in the back said I was ignoring him on purpose. Hes so cranky. I dont want mean old scrooge grandpa to scold me. The store is over packed and cluttered anyway. Go to guitar center, they dont get upset when an instrument is played. My mom has been supporting this business for years by taking me here. Theyre overpriced anyway.

Very helpful picking out a guitar for a young child. Replace the strings to make sure they were in top shape and have us a one year warranty. If youre in the market for an instrument the quality here is very good (and when you order online you just dont know what youre going to get)

Ive been going to Gilmore music for 25 years now if I dont make the trip to Guitar Center or Sam Ash this is directly where I come nice guitars amps work on guitars here do intonation change strings work on keyboards not to mention a beautiful recording studio they can get you in touch with instructors to teach you how to do whatever you need to do musically what more you want I always say you dont need to be in a big city with fancy buildings around to get what you need out of music most of the time is the little mom and pop places that pay particular attention to your exact needs and Gilmore music will do that for you

Bought a little drum here recently, its in great condition and was cheaper than I thought. I also use one of their rehearsal rooms. Its a bit run down but works. Customer service is usually very calm.

This historic music shop is worth taking the time to check it out...sure guitar center is huge and has alot more inventory, but why go so far away, where its crowded and you really dont get that 1 on 1 customer service.Went in for strings, asked alot of questions, got alot of answers, suggestions, and no pressure to buy....thanks Gilmore!!

Company is horrible the manager did not help us at all we were sold an item that was told it was there product. And when we wanted to return it because of how bad it was they told us they had nothing to do with it because it was on consignment when they never revealed it to us that it was a consignment basically there nice when you buy and jerks of you try to exchange. STICK TO GUITAR CENTER OR SAM ASH THEY AT LEAST TAKE CARE OF YOU. this is what I get tryingTo help small business.

Good old long time local shop

A little background on me: I am a Long Beach musician and am someone who has always made a conscious effort to patron small businesses in my community instead of buying from major (or online) retailers whenever I can. I do yoga on the bluff, buy my juices at Salud, my produce at the farmers market, and my guitar strings at Gilmore . I love this city and think it important to support the local vendors that add to it.I had a show March 7th and found that the Yamaha keyboard I have performed with for the past 8 years had finally given up on me. I rushed into Gilmore to buy one to play that night, tried a few they had on the floor, and after deciding on one, they brought out an unboxed keyboard from the back (I thought nothing of it since I was going to be playing the instrument immediately anyway), rung me up, and $300 later I was out the door with my shiny new Yamaha.Barely 2 months and only 7 shows later (I was overseas most of April and did not take it with me), I bring the keyboard to a festival last night only to find that it would not power on. The musical director and entire sound team scrambled to try and help me for about 20 minutes to get it to work, but nada. The keyboard was inoperable, and I was unable to play the show.**Hoping to find a solution, I brought the keyboard and my purchase receipt to Gilmore today at 2:45 and explained to the attendant that I had bought the board here two months ago and that it had failed to power on at a performance yesterday. He immediately got defensive and told me that 2 months was too long for him to be sure that I didnt purposely mistreat the keyboard. He also told me that the keyboard was purchased used (Used????) and when I responded that I was unaware I had purchased a used keyboard, he said, Yeah, right, I know someone told you. You said you purchased it out of the box, right? Well, there you go. Were not going to give you a refund, this is not going to be resolved today, and if there need to be repairs made on the keyboard were not going to cover the cost for you. Were also not going to give you store credit for this. You cant make it seem like the fact that your keyboard not working is somehow our fault. You can call our repair technician and if he says he can fix the keyboard you can pay for it yourself.Whoa.The saddest part about it is----- I hadnt asked for any of those things. As a customer returning to a place of purchase, I was hoping to be presented with possible solutions, yes, but to be yelled at, disrespected, and publicly chastised in the most hostile manner (the customers who were behind me in line walked away out of discomfort) was not only unprofessional and uncalled-for, but embarrassing; not just for myself for being subject to it but for the reputation of this company.Needless to say, I will not be back and I will also regretfully be cancelling the voice lessons that I had booked here.Do yourself a favor and only come if you know exactly what you want and plan to be out quickly. If you may require customer service, I recommend you look somewhere else.As the employee who screamed at me refused to share his name, I am sharing his photo.

Trust them with saxophones.I already took two of my personal saxophones a baritone and a tenor amazing job to get them back to playing state and a great price.

The employees are very knowledgeable and are musicians themselves.

I am currently attending music lessons here which is cool, however, the staff are friendly but they can be a little socially awkward at times. They have a few well known brands and great prices on instruments.
