Super convenient to pop in here to grab a few grocery items since their location is in the middle of town, next to the farmers market.

Parking lot torn up. No access to handicap parking. Guard at door yelled at me for walking in the exit. Told no entry, but would not tell me where entrance was until I asked several times. It is very unclear with parking the way it is. NOT VERY HANDICAP FRIENDLY! Will never go back!

I always shop at anyone of the KYA stores, very convenient and it always Careys items other stores dont have and so affordable too, friendly and helpful...

Unfortunately the store was very crowded the employees were not that friendly and the customers looked at me like I was from outer space....

There are terrific workers at KTA very helpful, and courteous.

Hmm what to say - you have enough stuff to buy but... it looks nobody takes care about hygiene in this store... look to my photos to see more. Will definitevly not shop in this store.

I like the fact that even though we have been in the middle of a pandemic, they were pretty much the only place that would still allow the public to use the restroom facilities.When you gotta go, gotta go. Lol.

All KTA on the hill area, excellent stores and employees.My mother and grandmother shopped at the first KTA open in Hilo,many many moons ago.My parents and grandparents lived on Piopio street before the tidal waves way back when.Thank You for being here and growing and humbly carrying on the old style local ways. Covid restrictions currently in place means limited capacity, masks required, and hand sanitizer upon entry. The entrance is monitored by security to ensure compliance. Only one of the two entrances is being used during Covid. Not a huge store but a decent selection of items. We made sure to grab fruit that has already been cut and prepared to keep at our hotel.

Absolute worst customer service I ever had from one of the woman cashiers working. I would advise this location to reevaluate the people they have working. As a retail worker myself, my boss would have fired me on the spot if I treated customers the way she did. NEVER shopping here again.

Fresh variety of foods sure to meet the needs of most household chefs. Grass fed beef. Small store that is well organized and has seriously nice staff. Love how quick I can get my weekly shopping done. Ample free parking with security guard.

Pricey but exceptional in product variety.

I sent a message regarding how I was treated by 2 employees at this store 3 weeks ago..I have NEVER got a response. I was at the store while visiting the island as I needed to buy some groceries, including ground meat. Being environment conscious, having my own bags and containers, I asked at the meat counter to have my meat placed into my OWN container or re-wrapped in paper. ALL the meat I buy in Ontario, is wrapped in butcher paper which can be composted or burned. After explaining TWICE to the men in the meat dept. that I did NOT take plastic, foam trays or meat diapers, (and the reasons why) I was faced with eye rolling, shaking of heads and under breath comments. I asked for a simple thing to be done to LESSEN the amount of garbage on an island I do not even live on! I was faced instead with ridicule. After a few minutes, the meat guy took my tray and went into the back. He came back out with the meat wrapped in paper and then wrapped back in the plastic! After getting to our rental home, I found that he also did NOT remove the meat diaper! I found this VERY poor service..but I am shocked I did not get a response from the corporate office after sending them a message. I am currently on Oahu and will NOT frequent KTA ever again. The plastic crisis needs to be addressed. If we can do it in Canada, you can surely do it here!

Best grocery chain on the Big Island. Best grocer in town. There is a wide variety of items! Helpful, friendly staff. Good Prices! Fish and meat selections superb and catered to local tastes. KTA really cares about their community. This makes me feel good about shopping there. Can get ready made healthy fresh meals at a reasonable price. KTA does so much in a small space. Always a clean environment.

Love this KTA, but I have to say that its been a couple times now that Ive become ill after eating poke from here. Ill keep coming back for the awesome selection of vegetables and friendly service though!

Best market in the area. They have almost everything that you could want and many local products as well as a great Asian food selection. Many brands of beer, wine and liquor. Seafood, deli, and bakery departments. Friendly and helpful staff. No membership or card requirements. Good sales if you know what you are looking for. Many health food items are available as well.

Upon trying to purchase alcohol, the associate called me a white pig, and proceeded to kneel on my neck for 8 minutes.

Local fish, frozen and fresh highlight this delicacy oriented grocery store. With fresh dairy and produce abound here, youll be satisfied. A little variety of Oriental cusine found here as well!

Like going to this Down town KTA way last ppl and they have everything you need like the Big KTA in Pauianko!

Great vegetables

I can shop for my fresh vegetables and fruits weekly if need be, the prices are affordable and it helps our home grown farmers. Shop locally its the only way to go.

Good place to stock up on drinks and snacks if you are visiting. The Ichiban Tako Senbe is pretty good

When I am on this side of downtown, I love to shop at KTA. The staff are very friendly and helpful!! If you are lucky, you can find some great bargains in the reduced fruits and vegetables cart.

Its small size but most convenient in Hilo. Especially good selection Asian food. Prices reasonable. Parking tight during day; can always park right in front after sunset. Local place. Staff particularly nice - lots of Aloha.

Small store in heart of Hilo, reminding me of the grocery stores I visited as a child. Not a huge selection but most of the things you need. Clean, good parking, handicap accessible, visible security in the parking lot. KTA seems to go out of its way.

We love our KTA.freshest produce, fabulous bakery and meat Dept. they are always having good sales and are a wonderful business that supports local farms other food products locally produced and support community projects. Their prime rib dinners are da kine.

Its a very old KTA location. One of the first I believe in the middle of old Hilo Town. Parking is a challenge but sufficient. Most all the necessities anybody would need for a quick grocery shopping experience. Prices are higher than most grocery stores though which is the only reason for my OK rating.

Mr Tankguchi died in September of this year...so sad .. I remember when the other Tankguchi died in 1989? The best little store on the Island of Hawaii..Youre someone SPECIAL!!😍

My husband and I love this store! They have amazing customer service!

Old original store, smaller than the other. Most employees are open, helpful, & graciously accepting of me & my Service Dog. But a few are more ridged in acceptance of non-locals & disabled exceptions; Me & my Service Dog are targeted for harassment from a few of these employees & management. These individuals are trying to label us with their prejudiced beliefs, bigoted feelings, & slanderous lies against our character.

Local place you can find Big Island taste there. There is a long history with that community. I strongly recommend it.

Who does not love the KTA’s but the Asian lady at check out that worked Tuesday morning wasn’t pleasant. Bad morning? She seemed like she was having a rough start. Yup. Yup. That is how she answered me. I Will Still try to come again

Dirty. Staff often rude.

Service is nearly non existent, crummy atmosphere, and abrupt help when you can find any. Prices are not necessity very good. More of a convenience store.
