I sold my friend car in Carmax recently and initial process was little slow in evaluating the car price and you need to ask their staff for the progress update. So I think, they should give Token to each customer and have Display for Status update.However this was my first visit in CarMax and overall experience was smooth and very good. I want to thank you the Girl in Business office (sorry forget her name), who helped me in completing the final documents and explaining the final payment process.She also helped me in booking the Lyft for returning home, since I sold the car. This was good surprise. I never thought this service.

Poor follow up on providing information when I visited with the internet quote. The person in charge asked me to be seated and promised to call me in 40 min while they check the vehicle. He never called and when I approached after 45 min, I was shocked to find that he already left for the day without handing off the file to next person

Really good experience. We were selling our leased car to CarMax. They evaluated our car, and gave us a very good offer. The sales process was very smooth, and they guided us through getting a lease extension, since we needed 45 days left to sell to them.

Getting a quote was hassle-free, I booked an appointment online for the next day.The quote was provided within 30 minutes, and it met my expectation. Came back in a few hours and turned in the car.Theyre ironed out all the flaws in the process. Excellent service :D

I went to Carmax to finalize an online offer. Per the website, the appointment should be 30-90 minutes - we were there about 3 1/2 hours. While I dont mind waiting, I do mind being condescended to and disrespected. After about two hours, I went to inquire at the business office. A very polite woman said she would go check the department that approves the sale price. Meanwhile, Brianna (I guess she fancies herself a supervisor? She shouldnt be - her customer service is an embarrassment for your organization) decided to involve herself, I guess I looked exhausted? In the most disrespecting and condescending manner, she lectured me using some corporate buzz words/phrases like, shes going above and beyond to help you, maam. and something about partnering with finance to succeed. Getting a status update for a customer is NOT going above and beyond - that is your job - customer service.Finally, Carlos stepped in to save the day. Carlos Vera-Rosas is probably one of your top employees at the Fremont location. He clearly cares for his customers and maintained a polite and professional manner consistently. He easily answered all my questions and eased my worry. But for some unknown reason, Im underqualified and in Charge Brianna decided to take one last go at being a disgusting person. As Carlos was competently and professionally reviewing everything, she started to attempt to lecture me on arbitrary policies that I do not care about, nor had I asked about. Since she was such a ray of sunshine earlier, I did not acknowledge her reappearance. She eventually got the hint and wandered off while speaking rudely about me loudly enough for my husband and myself to hear. Super classy, Carmax. As she was complaining to her coworkers that she doesnt usually go off like that, but... we finished up with Carlos and went to sit and wait for things to be finalized.All in all, I was able to complete my sale, but the experience has me completely turned off from every engaging in business with this company again. This should actually be a complaint to your HR department because honestly, having an employee exhibit that much hostility in a minor situation leads me to believe that she probably is a poor fit for direct customer interaction.

I had an appointment to appraise my car. I waited for 1.5 hrs without getting any help. Every time I checked about the delay, I was told I will be helped soon. They do not respect customers time. I will avoid this business and I will recommend my friends to avoid as well.

Selling my car to Carmax was very easy. I made an appointment to take it in, checked in at my assigned time, the car was inspected and test driven, I was given an offer and then handed a check after signing a couple of forms. The only reason Im not giving 5 stars is because of how long it took. The appointment reminder says the process can take between 30-90 minutes, we were there for 3 hrs. The staff was very courteous and explained they were very busy, they have a cool and comfortable waiting room but it still took way longer than I had planned for.

The worst Carmax in the nation!! On Monday I had an appointment to buy the car at 6:30pm we checked in and they told me to sit until a Salesman will be available. Yes, I did have a meeting on 6:30. At 8:00pm I was asking why is the wait so long. And finally they was about to assist me. It was too late and financing will take couple hours I suggested to come next day to buy the car when it’s not so busy. The salesman (Noah) set a meeting for Thursday and supposed to put the car on hold for me to purchase until Thursday. When I was checking in to the new meeting I found out the the car is not there anymore and I check online the car was sold to someone else in different locations. No one gives me a call to tell me that this is the case. I was super disappointed that this car sold to someone else when they supposed to hold the car for my to buy after such a long wait and anticipation.

Extremely long wait, double the time that the staff told us. 30-45 min turned into 1.5 hours with no updates. And thats just to get the confirmation of the appraisal. Then they told us another 1-1.5 hr for the paperwork to sell, and we ended up waiting another 2 hr and 15 min. There should a better way to manage that.

I have went based on online appraisal and took appointment, there time ethics are so bad my official appointment started 1hr after my scheduled time due to technical difficulties!! which might have been easily checked when customers check in and drop keys.Customer experience once, we get transferred to business center is so bad it was very obvious from the way they treat customers who come to sell. Really horrible.I would highly recommend to avoid this facility for resale. Also, final offer they gave is half of the online appraisal price total waste of time and energy!

It was a great experience and I got what I thought was a fair price. It was below the offer I was emailed, but above what I expected. The overall sense of the transaction beat the hell out going to a dealer for a trade-in, no haggling or pressure. My only negative comment is that it took 2 hours 14 minutes, way too long!

Poor service. Got a car very recently. They dont seem to care about the sale after the purchase. I need to follow up for every single thing.They didnt provide me with the correct keys, but wont call back to confirm if Ill get it.The wait time to get anything done is insanely high even if you have an appointment. I had to wait 3 hours to talk to an agent about the car while I had an appointment.

I came to buy a car, I bought and used it to test the car I bought and I like it. I started the purchasing process and signed everything, paid the fee. When I took delivery of the vehicle, they sold me another vehicle. I said I didnt want it. But they still said that I can return it within 30 days without any charge. The next day I came to deliver the vehicle, but they said things like the system is not working, we cant change it now bla bla, and they made me wait for hours. Although my credit rating is 753, their financing is 8.95% APR according gave to me. Cars cannot be purchased from CarMax. The person who sold me a different car is named Savannah Loera

Jovan was fantastic he got me a car the first time, then there was an issue with that loaner. Id never been to CarMax but we needed somewhere to sell my old jeep which wasnt dying and I just wanted to get rid of it. CarMax was very fair and easy to deal with. I came early before my scheduled appointment to appraise my car and they were able to take me early. Facility is very clean and brightly lit. I received a check for my car that day! Employees were very friendly and easy to work with.

If I can give NO STAR I would do that. Really really BAD customer services DON’T go here. Came here for selling my car on Sat. And I already had Carmax’s offer in hand. All they need to do is processing paperwork. But they made me wait for 1-2hrs and end up said my bank closed so. The lady who did my paperwork told me that my bank will open on Sun so just come back. I came back next day, a different lady served for me and said Oh your bank doesn’t open on Sunday, so just come back on Mon. At this time I was really mad and try to make a call to my bank, the automatic system clearly said their business hours which is CLOSED on Sunday. That’s means their worker don’t know how to work. They waisted my time so much. And the thing is my offer is expired on Sun. That’s mean they have to re-evaluate my car again on Mon. I gave them last chance to come back on Mon, all I do is waiting and waiting for almost 2hrs and yup no one served me. I’m not gonna give this place any more chances. TOO BAD. I already had their offer in hand and they still taking too long and bad like this. Imagine bring in your car and have them evaluate from A-Z will take you the whole day. Our time is money but they don’t care.

The Service was excellent. The SUV was not in the best of shape when I found it on the lot. I had already been approved through their online service and they had all my information. My Rep Josh after inspecting the SUV went in to talk with his supervisor and they both inspected the SUV with me. There were a few imperfections and they assured me that they would take care of them. The supervisor said the SUV had not been inspected by their team and they would not sale it as is. This was on Saturday. I let them know that I needed the SUV by Tuesday no later than Wednesday and they assured me I would have it if not they would put me in a loaner until my SUV was ready. I received a call Tuesday Morning saying that my SUV would be ready for pick up that afternoon. When I arrived to pick up the SUV it was in tip top shape. Josh and I completed the paper work and I on my way with my new ride within an hour. Fremont Carmax gives great service.Belinda

This place is almost a joke now trading your car in. Sure they started the cash trade trend, but interestingly most traditional dealers now can meet and beat the offers if you shop around through the KBB cash offer dealers or CarMax instant trade deal. Still all BS if youre fine selling it private party. Went to entertain a baseline on a clean title, 2 owner car with clean Carfax, no accidents, no damage, detailed inside out, yet they indicated paintwork was done. Only $16k offer on a $22k private party or $24k retail book value car. $8k spread?!? People would be blowing up the phone for $6-8k off fair market asking whats wrong with it, but will take it as is.

They’re friendly and helpful here but avoid it if you can. I bought a car here that was completely non-drivable (even though they supposedly do a servic check on their cars before putting them on the lot) that’s false. I Returned the faulty car in the allotted time I had and traded it for a different car. The spare key for the new car was never programmed for the car. So when I misplaced my keys (5 months later) and tried to use the spare from carmax, I couldn’t start the car with it. There seems to be more hiccups and issues than not and I wouldn’t recommend CarMax to anyone ever.

They all made sure we were comfortable and understood every step even helping to expedite since I’m 37weeks pregnant and we needed to upgrade with a 3rd baby (and car seat) was on the way. Seamless selling process. No stress whatsoever. I got an estimate online and booked an appointment for appraisal. They appraised the car for the same amount as the estimate. I’ve bought 3 cars with car max and the last time was just a terrible experience. Took 6 and a half hours to make the purchase final and they ran my credit over 14 times. I have never had the experience, once you are approved typically that is it but no this time they ran my credit into the trash and i could get a good apr anywhere. And still ended up with a car that has negative equity. Car max is trash will never buy another car through them again. And there is no option to complete the process online or even get it started.

We used Carmax today to sell our vehicle. We put the relevant information into the form online and it gave us a quote for the price we could expect assuming that their inspection was consistent with the facts we provided. We arrived at 10am Saturday morning for our appointment and after about 35-40 minutes, they had confirmed their purchase price. The woman who helped us with the paperwork was very professional and we finished up the paperwork within 25 minutes. All in all, a great experience. The price they purchased the car for was a little less than what we would have received had we done a private sale, but the savings in time and effort on my part was well worth it.

Like obvious to anyone. They detailed the car after I complained but theres still work to do. If they dont have the staff to set up customers with a test drive - then they could just space out appointments or take fewer appointments - its not rocket science

The have a great staff of employees that are very knowledgeable there is no pressure to buy a vehicle. We purchased a Chevy pickup and we drove and the transmission was making lots of noise. We took the car back to them and we exchanged it for a different one.I highly recommend you to use CarMax you will never go back to a car dealer again.

The entire experience was even easier than all the reviews had stated. I booked an appointment for appraisal on a Friday afternoon, and even though when I arrived there were about 6 cars waiting, my wait time came much faster than I expected! Then, waiting for the quote was less than 5 minutes. Came back 7 days later to accept the quote and they took my baby off for a test drive and I never saw him again. A few signatures later and I was done. I think they were eager to get my car - even with high mileage, they gave me top bluebook value because the car was in pristine condition, well-maintained and had new everything! Im sure theyll give him a good home - one of the staff may even buy him. Im so glad a friend told me to try CarMax. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Sales Consultants were excellent. Overall experience was borderline. When compared to a traditional dealer the experience leaves a bit to be desired when utilizing outside financing. Theres no compromise in corporate set rules. Our example is not one of the sort of experience my wife and I would recommend at all. We bought the car and were financed by CAF for 8.9%. So we shopped around at our local credit union and received 3%. Which equates to about $115 a month back in our pockets, great. CarMax promotes being easy to work with but the rules set in place for these guys are hard rules with no exceptions. So because we found better financing I had to return the car for a day until we came back with a financing check. If we found the car at a traditional dealer they would have authorized an overnight test drive to take care of us. We worked with Henry and Shaun, who were exceptional. Henry knew of the policy and did advise us, but it didnt take away the sting of having to return the car for a day just to come back drop off a check and repeat the process. Worth it for over $100 in monthly savings but Im not sure I would go thru the process again with CarMax. Great people but seems like the company doesnt care for the customer.

Buying a car should always be this easy. My original car and I both lost a fight with a deer (the deer and the car were both totaled) and once all the dust had settled, with insurance check in hand, I started online shopping. In COVID times, I was NOT looking forward to traveling lot to lot looking for the a car that I had not budgeted for, nor planned on purchasing this year. I went on the CarMax website and started going through the inventory. I found a Chevy Equinox up in Santa Rosa, (I live in Fremont) and put in an order to have the car shipped to the Fremont store for me to test drive. I ended up buying the car. With the no haggle policy it was very straightforward. After a bit of research, I determined the price to be more than reasonable. I ended up financing the remainder of the balance through my credit union and again, it was a very easy process. I would definitely by through CarMax again. If you find yourself in Fremont, CA, ask for Henry Wong. He is awesome. :)

Test drove my car on a cool day, didn’t notice the AC wasn’t working. The warranty is the only reason I gave more than 1 star. I got it in under warranty to fix the AC. Find out a part needs to be replaced. Wait for the part to come in then bring it in (drop off before work, Lyft to work, Lyft back to CarMax) find out it was the wrong part. Wait for the part to come in again, drop off car (Lyft to work and back) find out it’s the wrong part again. Wait for part to come in, drop off car (Lyft to work and back again) and you guessed it, wrong part. Wait for part to come in, drop off car (Lyft to work and back), THERE IS A PART OF THE PART MISSING. Wait for that to come in. Drop off car before work, Lyft to work. Lyft back and now the service isn’t done yet. The time between my first appointment and my last was 5 weeks, 3 of those weeks I drove around with tape over my AC with DO NOT USE written on it. I dropped my car off at 8:30 am for a 1:30pm appointment and I am now sitting waiting for it at 6:30 pm. This is my experience.

Every time weve visited in the past week, we always had someone friendly and non-aggressive who did everything to help us purchase the car we were interested in. This is the complete and total opposite of CarMax South Sacramento and CarMax Roseville, both of which sold or transferred cars we reserved, despite us making the 70+ mile drive to view the cars. Double check the car you like. Make sure they are no recalls, have them change the cabin filter. If you purchase the car, take it to receive an inspection from an actual mechanic shop, it will benefit you. They say the car has been inspected, they are not trust worthy company. The car of interest had everything marked good. At the end, the brakes were faulty, cabin filter had mildew, HVAC had recalls and front tires needed to be replaced. Do not trust them!!! Will never purchase a car from Carmax or recommend any location.

This was the easiest auto purchase I have ever made. The online process was easy to navigate. The presale contact person made sure everything was in order before our visit to the San Jose CarMax. The sales team was most helpful. The process was quick, thorough and delivered as promised. There were two repairs promised and delivered to this vehicle upon signing.This is my third vehicle purchased from CarMax. Selling the car at carmax Fremont was a terrible experience as I was told that there is 1 hour wait but I had to wait for ~3 hours with my 8 week old son and wife sitting outside in lot parking and needing to do all diaper changes/feeding in car during that time. When I asked I was told I cannot get appointment and I just have to wait in line, if I leave the lot to drop my wife and son, they will put me in the end of queue. Really terrible experience.

My CarMax experience was incredible. Family was greeted in cordial and friendly manner. We were asked if we were purchasing or selling, at that time we were looking at trucks. We were then led to the display lot to look around and if we wanted a test drive to just come back in for a representative.We looked around and we decided on an Audi SUV (not my initial purpose for visit). The CarMax rep was friendly and had general knowledge of vehicle. We wound up purchasing at a very fair price (no haggling) and fully informed during the entire process around financing, warranties, and 7-day return.My expectation were met and not disappointed. Remember, they are a USED car dealer and not a dealership. This means they will have general knowledge of vehicles but not detailed, in-depth. There is not a hard-sell environment but actually relaxed. I would recommend CarMax to find a vehicle, test drive, and get a no-haggle price before going to a new car dealership. Getting a fair estimate and executing on the sale to CarMax was quick and hassle-free. The estimate took about 20 minutes start to finish and the actual sale around 30 minutes. Not bad considering other dealers estimates took over 90 minutes to complete just an estimate and were frankly unreasonable and difficult to work with. I would work again with CarMax both as a buyer and seller.

Car shopping through CarMax was a great experience! I found the vehicle I wanted and they had it shipped right away to the location of my choice. Syed always kept in contact with me and help make the buying process so much easier. He was friendly and outgoing which made me feel comfortable and secure. The whole selling experience is smooth. People all practice social distancing protecting both the buyer and employees. I waited 1.5 hour instead of 45 minutes since I drop off the vehicle for Car Max to test drive. The wait time is a bit longer than expected.

Sadly I am reviewing the Fremont dealership, AGAIN. I recently found out the trunk of my car was repainted, This was not disclosed to me at all. This is the 2nd issue I have had now with Carmax. I Bought the car 10/10/2020 and was so happy with the sale and young man who helped me, but its bothersome that things keep popping up. First the registration and now this. Not happy.

Very poor experience. They wasted my time claiming the car have features when it didnt, just kept pushing pushing and following up before I purchased the car, but when we passed that bridge they handled my concerns very poorly. Kept saying you can call our service department with any issue the car might have. Who wants to buy an expensive car and in the first week deal with service??Then when I return the car they surprisingly saying you have to wait 15 days to get your money back, because you brought the car back after the 7-day cutoff to get the refund check in person. Now have to wait 15 days, the other car that I found in another dealership is gone because I have to wait for the Carmax refund to pay the down. The kid who calls herself manager, Tammy in business office, is telling me you should read what you sign not listed to what our sales rep told you. Wow. I just leave it at that. Waste of so many hours, and Carmax gets to put your money into work for almost a month, put a dent on your credit, and insult you when you are exercising the right they offer you to return the car. No communication no talk no mention of 7-Day cutoff. This location is a -10 Star. Time for Google to start negative star rating.Update;Responding to the dealership who copy pasted a standard response to imply customer care. To inform fellow Bay Area residents and recommending them to absolutely avoid this dealership, I am adding some updates to my review.I have emailed, called and left a message for the sales manager, Nicholas Pava, who ensured me on Friday 3/19/21 around 3 PM that on Saturday he will talk to his manager and get back with me to arrange my payment back. Shame on him, it is Monday 3/22/21 10:13 PM I have not received any follow up. God knows I will be able to get my money back from this sloppy dealership or I have to spend half of it in lawyers fee to get my 30-day-we-will-decide-when-and-how-you-get-your-money-back Guarantee refund check back. I guess a sharp way of funding overhead cost to pay for bunch of irresponsible, unprofessional staff who dont give a damn about the customer time, all with the incremental value of keeping your money for up to lets-wait-and-see how long, and being proud to do this for your benefit.So dear customer service representative, please tell Nicholas Pava to give me an update. Will you?
