So we all know just how advanced new cars are becoming. If you are like me you take your new car home and go through all the opitons and controls just to try to get a good idea of your cars operations and controls. So when I got an email to make an appointment for Subarus Love Encore program, for a representative to thoroughly go over the functions of my car I rolled my eyes. Ive had 3 Outbacks since 2015 and I really believed I knew all there was to know about this model. I made an appointment with Ms. Willis and met with her the next day. What an education. She showed me so many more features that I was not aware of, features that really make a difference in the overall ownership experience. I now have even more love for my Outback and feel so good about my purchase. Ms. Willis was professional, knowledgeable and entertaining. My time with her was well spent and I highly recommend anyone with a new Subaru to take advantage of the Love Encore program. Ive been buying cars for over 40 years and this was one of the most informative, worthwhile interactions Ive ever had pertaining to my new car purchase. Ms. Willis was awesome and really sheds a good light on First Team Subaru Suffolk.

10 out of 10 experience with First Team Suffolk! I drove all the way from DC to purchase my new Subaru from this particular dealer and wasnt disappointed. They had the exact car I wanted waiting for me as soon as I arrived, gave me more than I was expecting for my trade-in, AND beat Navy Federals financing rate. Chase was super helpful with giving me an in-depth tutorial on all the different features unique to Subaru, was patient with all of my questions, and had me driving out of the dealership in just over 4 hours. It was truly a wonderful and seamless process that Im still overjoyed with nearly a week later. I cant wait to be back in a few years for another upgrade!

Horrible experience. Called and spoke with Courtney to make sure the Mini Cooper that we were interested in was still available. We told her we didn’t want to dive in the rain for one hour if it was not available. After putting us on hold to speak with her manager, Courtney returned to assure us that the vehicle was in fact available. Courtney told us to come in in and “Hugh”, our assigned salesman would be waiting. Upon arrival, not only did Hugh have no clue we were coming, he commented that he is “supposed to be notified” before customers come in to see him. Apparently Courtney didn’t relay the message. To make matters worse, the Mini Cooper that we had just drove an hour, in the rain to come test drive was being serviced and repaired next door. Oh and by the way, the service department t was closed!! Complete waste of time and unprofessionalism, is all we experienced from First Team Subaru. Thanks Courtney and Hugh. I would give this place no stars but had to select one to post.

My husband has worked on cars all his life. Unfortunately, he is also active duty and isnt always around when things go wrong. I brought my outback in due to a squeaking coming from what we thought would be the pulleys. After waiting for three hours, they told me that the belt needed to be replaced due to being after market (my husband replaced this one himself and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it) and the pulleys would need to be replaced, as well. They could not give a reason why all the pulleys would need to be replaced to solve the squeaking. They did tell me the total for all the work plus a 60k maintenance (even though my car is only at 52k) would be around $1200.I declined the work and said I would get a second opinion. They charged me $135 for the diagnostic and an extra $20 for shop materials like rags and stuff.Save yourself some time and money and go somewhere else; especially if you are a military spouse. They will take you for a ride.

I would first like to shout out Rheana C. from this dealership for taking care of my every need when I arrived. Rheana, as well as her Subaru manager took such amazing care of me it is unheard of these days. I was painstakingly annoying with what I wanted in the vehicles I was purchasing. Yes, thats right, I bought two vehicles at the same time from her. I had her running to and from like a chicken with her head cut off but she more than managed.She did such an amazing job, a week or two later I came back and purchased yet another vehicle from her. Thats right, three in a matter of two weeks. She wasnt trying to swindle me, nor was she just playing a role of a salesperson. She was just purely awesome in every way. Her aura just invited you to be comfortable with her. And even her leadership was the same way. The Subaru Manager made me feel like family.I would highly recommend this dealer and the kia dealer beside it to anyone looking to get an amazing deal and not feel like you got swindled at all. They dont just say they care, they show it with how they conduct business. Even afterwards, checking to see how I am enjoying the vehicles that were purchased. Seeing if I have any questions at all. This dealer has earned a customer for life!

Service takes forever, loaner vehicles “aren’t in our policy” and they add on hidden fees. Went in for recall work on my crosstrek, came out with 1,800 worth of maintenance/repairs to complete. On top of the 226 that they charged to do spark plugs at the time of recall work.I bring the vehicle in to get wheel bearings and brake pads changed and tell them not to do anything with the rotors. Service was estimated 4.5 hours. 6+hours later I get my car back with extra fees and rotors being resealed.They don’t value your time. They don’t value your business. They don’t listen to the customer. Apparently they’re fine not getting return business.

I brought my Forester in for an oil and belt change, and asked for a ride home. The service writer instead, brought me a car to drive. She could have asked me to wait while the courtesy driver got back, but instead, she showed initiative and great customer service. Love this place!

Just bought our second Subaru from first team and it is always a great experience! Chase is awesome and was so helpful! I confess I went in dead set that I wanted a specific car in a specific color- they made it happen and traded out of state to get it within 3 days. The service is great- no dirty waiting rooms here! Seriously I bought from Hall before and really had an awful experience with them actually honoring their warranties, this has not been a problem with First Team- we have been so pleased with them.

We cancelled our order for a 2021 Forester at Casey Subaru (due to very poor service) and drove a couple miles farther to try again at First Team Subaru and it was well worth the drive over the MMR.Jarvis Gilliam, our sales rep, was wonderful: kind, knowledgeable, and all around great guy; as were everyone we encountered during our visit there. They keep the place spotless - even the restrooms - and have a large, comfortable, waiting room with amenities.We drove off with our new Forester that day and look forward to a long relationship with First Team.

Just picked up our new Subaru Outback Limited. Turned in our last one at the end of it’s lease period. Great experience at First Team Suffolk. Started on line with Chase and Hugh. They worked up various lease options on several vehicles. I set our max monthly we were willing to go and Hugh got the numbers down to make it happen. Let them know which one we wanted and when we would pick it up. Got there at the appointed time and it was sitting ready to roll in the delivery area with our name and sold on it. First Team Suffolk is just a really relaxed atmosphere, with no high pressure and a real willingness to serve the customer. Hugh was able to get us a bit more on our turn in due to it’s low miles and excellent shape. Chris and Hugh were a pleasure to work with and replicated our first lease experience at First Team Suffolk. I had left our Pre-Pass on the windshield and hadn’t realized it for a couple of days.Called them and they had it waiting for me. Highly recommend for a great place, with great people, to buy a great vehicle.

I recently made my second car purchase from First Team Subaru in Suffolk. Their team was excellent the first time, about 5 years ago. This time, even though none of the faces looked familiar, I received the same superb service. Im glad they are maintaining a culture of excellence! This time, I took advantage of what I presume is a new program, the Subaru Love program (I think?).. They have you drive your car for a few weeks then come back where they do a more in depth feature overview and answer any questions. Cherilyn was able to address all my questions and even showed me a few new features that I didnt even know to ask about!

I drove all three and couldnt decide between the forester or the Ascent. She was not pushy in any way. She knew the the cars inside and out. I used to absolutely rave about Subaru Suffolk. I still love my Subaru, but I am never coming back here. I bought my vehicle about two years ago and have not had issues generally when bringing my vehicle here for a free oil change. To get this oil change, I do have to have my tires rotated each time. Today, I was told in addition to that I also have to pay every 30k miles for a special tune up that costs just under $500. To top that off I was scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. service and was not told anything about an extended wait period when I dropped my vehicle off. I returned around 11 (2.5 hours later) and they had not even started on my vehicle. I was shocked. I asked how much longer it would take and I was told 2 more hours, because I did not sit as a waiter. I was also told this was always the policy and rudely was told I thought youd been here before. Well I have on multiple occasions, but again this was never the case. I have never experienced an oil change that would take over four hours. I will say all the staff seem to be replaced from who I had dealt with in the past, and this seems to be the issue. I believe that because I am not paying extra because my vehicle came with the free oil change, the dealership simply drove my car to the back of the lot where I found it and decided not to provide customer service until others were taken care of. Its not worth the $40 on multiple grounds, but thanks anyway. Maybe you can bring your old crew back in because they were stellar.

I had a fantastic experience here! I set up an appointment to go see a car on their website and had no issue or wait time to take a test drive and talk about the car. Maddy West was a class act, answered all of my questions, answered a few I didnt know I had, and helped me get the car at an extremely reasonable price. I would highly recommend going to see her if you are in the market for a new or used car. There is also the added bonus of free oil changes and state inspections.

I have a great experience EVERY TIME I visit First Team Subaru for service. From setting up the appointment on-line to the extraordinary service at the Service counter, I can always count on things going well. This past Saturday, 2/6/2021, was no exception. Paul, the Service MGR, helped me figure out how to use the fan on my heater before I even turned over my keys for routine maintenance. (I’ve had my car over a year and could not figure it out.). He was professional and personable, not just with me, but with everyone he assisted. He is a gem! What a tremendous asset to your Company. Honestly, the service he provided was no different than any service I have ever received at a First Team location. Everyone has a caring and personable attitude! I love to get my car serviced!! We knew that the Outback was going to be our next car and after test driving one at another dealership, we went to First Team because they had a larger selection of models and colors. We were met by Jarvis Williams and in the heat of summer and a pandemic, he graciously talked to us during our test drives about the different models, what they do, the other cars that are like it (the Forester) and was absolutely the kindest and most patient salesman. Even while my husband and I discussed last minute details, he was so patient and I felt that even if we would not have signed that day, he would not have treated us any differently. We got the sense that for Jarvis it was more about making sure that we were fully happy with our decision and that was paramount to any sale he was going to make. The whole team at First Team from the parts department to Cherilyn Willis and Sonny who helped us with our trade-in and the signing of all of the documents, was incredibly kind, professional, patient and understanding.

I was hesitant at first to buy a new car. But my rep Cherilyn was beyond reassuring and honest. She was able to explain the vehicles in a way I could understand and showed me the features that applied to my life. (Not just all the latest and greatest). She was personable and go me into my brand new 2020 Subaru Forester, which got me through a cross country (VA-CA) road trip! She was even available through phone calls when I forgot little features! Recently purchased a 2021 Subaru Ascent Limited. I have a Toyota Camry that I purchased from First Team in 2008; so I can vouch for the First Team quality of service. Our sales associate, Chase McCarter, guided us through the process with professionalism and patience. He and the sales manager, Hugh, secured a rare color combination 7 seat model from another dealership and had it delivered for a fair price (employee pricing), zero percent financing, and an excellent trade in allowance for my 14 year old Mazda. I had such an amazing car buying experience. Everyone was so friendly and warming, I swear most dealerships can feel very forceful and a lot of pressure. Service department is lacking with customer service. Tried calling to schedule an appointment, no answer, would leave a voicemail, no call back. Would call back later and again no answer. When going their and talking them at the service department it was as if Im annoying them by being there. This has happened several times to not just myself but also friends who service their cars there.

I was helped by Mr. Brooks Bynum, who also assisted my parents when they purchased their car through First Team Subaru. He was extremely helpful, kind, personable, knowledgable and transparent. It was estimated 1.5 hours to complete when I made the appointment over the phone and despite all the spaced out chairs being filled, my Outback came out in time! I then went to the Parts Department and had the battery in my key FOB replace in just minutes and no hassle for me! I then went indo the sales area and very friendly customer relations member helped me find where some used cars that were on the First Team website were located and them handed me off to a friendly and knowlegable salesman that showed me one of the cars that was on that lot.I left the dealership in a convenient time frame and a smile on my face.

My husband and I recently purchased a Subaru from First Team, and frankly, if we didnt know what it was we wanted, First Team would not have received our business. First, the salesman was lackluster to say the least; he didnt have any energy and oftentimes mumbled, making it difficult to understand much of what he said. Second, we were asking about various accessories for the car and were told that they could sell them to us for sky high prices (typical, I know). However, we discovered several days later that there was a 20% Off coupon for accessories which wasnt shared with us. Needless to say, we purchased the car we wanted because we already knew what we wanted, but the customer service and overall sales here were pretty below average.

I recently bought a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 coupe from the first team Subaru dealership in Suffolk. Everything seemed to go pretty smooth, car didn’t look bad, felt nice during the very short test drive and it was only 6k. The sales lady told me the car was taken care of, and the previous owner was just looking to upgrade. After some consideration, I decided to finance it. The process was pretty smooth, then my loan came out to be 8,100$ on a 6,200$ car. me being a first time dealership buyer i just went with it. Literally a week later, my back left brake caliper fell off mid drive, almost causing me to crash into the stopped vehicle in front of me. I had to have the car towed back to the dealership to be fixed. This was just a huge inconvenience considering I just bought it. I go pickup my car the next day and the front lobby people told me that they must have not tightened it down all the way. Well I got back on the road with the car after that. About 2 weeks later I have a very strong burning oil smell, I see where oil is burning off the cat converter, but I couldn’t tell where it was leaking. So I took it back to them, the master technician took my car back, ran it through the dye for about 2 hours. He comes back up to the front and tells me he cannot pinpoint the leak right now and that I’d have to drive around a few days and come back, that way the dye has time to be pushed through the engine system. Oh, and I also mentioned the brake caliper to him and asked how that happened, his response was “I think you have enimies out there, I checked it before it left the shop and it was tight”. Well I came back in a week. My car sat there for a while before it was even looked at. After about 2 hours again, a tech lady came out and told me that I have “multiple oil leaks” and that it would cost me an estimated “2,700$” and she said that they could not guarantee that would fix my problem. I never even got to speak with the master tech again. she immediately sent me up to finance to see what we could do about getting me into another vehicle. They wanted to buy the car back for 4k$ and leave me with the other 4k$. Either way, 4k$ was left for me to deal with. That’s not fair at all, considering the sales team told me that they weren’t going to resell the car if I decided to sell it back to them, instead they said it would go straight to auction. Well I told them I couldn’t afford anything else right now and that my credit score took a 43 point hit after this car, so I wasn’t in the position to be approved for another loan. I am screwed, no choice but to keep the car. A few weeks later I decided to find the oil leaks myself. I got down to the valve cover, and it is obliterated. Needs immediate replacing, along with my camshaft seal, crankshaft seal, and valve cover gaskets.I will absolutely never shop here again, I’m stuck with a broken car on a 8k$ loan because of them. I have pictures of my valve cover completely cracked and deteriorated. I’m still digging in the car but I expect to find something else. I was going through 3-4 quarts of oil a month. I bought the car end of Jan 2021. I have pictures of my valve cover cracked everywhere. Pictures of leaks. If you’d like to see please let me know because I don’t know how to add them on this post. Thank you First team Subaru for screwing me over. I do not have a lot of time to take my car back to a dealership/shop over and over. I’m very busy and this dealership has definitely haulted a lot of time for me. —EDIT— after my review was reviewed by Subaru. we’ll why was I sold a bad “as-is” car. I cannot check inside the engine during purchase. You sold me a “as-is” broken, leaky car. How is that my fault ? I would have traded it in, but y’all tried to f**k me over 4k$. So if not me, then someone else would have been stuck w a broken car. I told you DAYS after I bought it that I didn’t feel safe driving it anymore due to multiple incomplete “reapirs” that were done BEFORE I bought the car. Something as simple as battery terminal cleaning wasn’t done until I complained.

I had a great buying experience at First Team Subaru Suffolk. The sales associate, Maddy West, was helpful, open and very, very low pressure. She answered all of my questions and showed me the features on the cars I wanted to see along with a few whiz bang features I did not know. More importantly, on the few (VERY few) occasions she did not know the answer to a question off the top of her head she did not try to pretend - but simply told me she was not sure and found the answer when the opportunity came and let me know at a later point. That sort of honest, straight-forward approach is worth its weight in gold these days. Both Maddys attitude and knowledge went a long way towards inspiring my confidence that this was going to be a wonderful car buying experience. Despite blustery, cold weather and a few spats of snow and rain in-between, Maddy hung in there and let me test drive and look over the cars in the daylight and at night (because liking a car only to find the interior lighting and dash arrangement is annoying when trying to drive at night is such a bummer). After my initial contact, Maddy stayed in touch and answered questions when I asked but never pressured me for a response or demanded I close a deal. I had been to First Team Subaru Suffolk back before the Year-of-COVID ate everyones lives, and I got a great vibe from the dealership then. Now (as then) the buildings were clean, bright and well-maintained - obviously a place that someone takes pride in. Likewise, the cars and the lot were well-kept and clean with adequate guest parking and someone was always there to offer help once you had stepped from your car. The entire staff, from the Front Office to the folks who worked in the Service department, were courteous, friendly, and really laid back. The deal offered for my trade-in was fair and the price for the new car was a good one as well. The after-sales items like finance and warranty were low-pressure, making me aware of the availability and coverage of items versus up-selling just for profits sake. Any choices I made to accept or decline the additional offers were accepted with grace - something seen far too little at many car dealerships these days. What I thought was going to be a painful car-buying experience due to COVID restrictions turned out to be a great experience because of Maddy and the whole team at First Team Subaru Suffolk.
