So I needed to wait a bit so I could be a little calm. As you can see, I brought in my Gucci belt, to get a few holes punched since I had lost some weight. Well, the holes are messy, off center and too big. I can’t wear my very, very expensive belt because the buckle slips out of the new holes. The resale value is gone. The best I can do is buy a new leather belt and put the buckle on it. But you better believe I won’t be taking it back here.

The owner is friendly and gives good customer service.

The only reason I put one star is because thats the only way you can leave a review. You have to put 1 star to get to the write review area. HORRIBLE place. DO NOT GO THERE!! I dont even know why they are still in business. I took my leather coat in to get the color restored. I called 1st, I was told that they could do it. I took it in & was told: next Wednesday after 2pm. I couldnt make it in that Wednesday, so I came the following Tuesday. They had not touched my coat. The guy apologized, refunded my $35 & said, he would have it ready for me on Friday, no charge. I said I needed it for a banquet on Friday at 3pm. He said come back Friday at 8:30am & he would have it ready. I came all the way from Detroit on Friday morning & he said Did I say after 2pm? I said no you didnt, I told you I needed it for a banquet at 3pm. He said, You got about 20 minutes? I said no, Give me my coat!I had to wear that faded coat to the banquet. Very disappointed!! I will never go to this place again!!

Brought in a pair of dress shoes that I was pretty much thinking were worthless and Mark quickly and efficiently fixed the sole on this shoe. Mark was personable and was able to get my shoe fixed in under 10 minutes. As someone that is currently looking for a new job, I was very appreciative of his fine work. Mark knows his stuff and will go the extra mile to make sure youre satisfied with the job. Hes transparent about his work and took time to show me how to be proactive on taking care of my boots. The consistent high quality gives me peace of mind that my shoes will be well cared for.

Took my heels to get repaired, Instead of the owner being honest before he charged me, He decided to be honest after he charged my credit card I said My heel still looks the same he replied Yeah you didnt need to replace them they looked fine...Yeah after you charge me to fix it I will not be back!!

My husband had an urgent scuff situation on expensive leather shoes and we had an event to attend and little time. We came into the store and Mark the owner was great. He worked on 3 pairs of in about 15 mins and they looked beautiful in just a few minutes like new. He is helpful, i formative and generally pleasant. This is my go to place.

Went in just looking to buy some new laces for my worn old dress shoes, left instead with a brand new pair for a bargain. Came back later for my fully refurbished old ones, plus new laces! Great deals, friendly service, good shoes!

Will never go back to this shoe repair! The owner is young and has very poor customer service skills. Owner gave us a ticket but didnt put a date on it. When my husband went to pick them up, the owner asked him if we had put a deposit down on them. This should have been written on the ticket if we had put down a deposit. He obviously isnt well versed in how to write out a receipt ticket to customers.I took in two pairs of shoes to be resoled. For over two months the guy kept telling me he was having trouble getting the right type of sole materials from his supplier - for my shoes. He kept telling me to check back with him, and he hoped he could find a supplier to get parts from.I just contacted him, and he once again said he couldnt get the parts from his supplier. I contacted another shoe repair place in town and they said NO PROBLEM we can get the parts and have your shoes done in one week!I didnt tell Contemporary I was picking up my shoes today, so when my husband went to pick them up, the owner had them under the front counter on a shelf. They were not in a bag and had dust on them. It seems obvious to us the owner had no intentions of fixing my shoes, otherwise why would they be under the front counter with dust on them?If Contemporary Shoe repair didnt want to do my shoes, why string me along for over two months? He just had to say he cant get the parts - period! No reason to string me along. The owner had several occasions weeks ago to tell me he couldnt get parts. Which I think was a lie in my opinion. Not a good way to treat customers, and it has netted him a bad review here.

They took the time to track down the correct heels for my Alden Indy boots. The repair took a little bit longer as a result, but the work was done beautifully and the boots look fantastic. I wouldnt hesitate to bring another pair in for repairs in the future. I definitely recommend checking this place out and supporting a talented and friendly local cobbler.

Went in for new boot insoles because mine were squeaking. Owner said “let me see the ones you have”. He went in back and fixed the ones I had. Silence now. He lost a sale that day with his great customer service but I will be back. Especially since I noticed they sell Smart Wool socks.

The owner was always polite with me. He did a good job stretching my boots, and provided care instructions and recommendations based on my needs.

I will never, ever take anything here again! 100% dissatisfied with quality of workmanship and had to wait over three weeks to get them back. Also there is absolutely no organization. If your given a ticket when dropping off your items you shouldnt have to describe them when you pick them up! Convenience is way overrated.

I have brought my scuffed up dress shoes to Contemporary Shoe Repair several times. Each time, Mark has taken great care of me. He promptly finish his work in the time frame that he has given me. My shoes have always looked great! I am completely satisfied with the work he has done, and will continue to bring my shoes to him.

I dropped off my shoes to get a seam stitched and new sole. Was told to come back on Monday..came back on Monday and nothing had been done. Was told the soles were ordered but had not come in yet. Come back on Thursday. Came back the following Monday and nothing had been done. Was showed two soles and asked if that type of sole would be ok, I said it would. Come back on Thursday. Came back on Thursday and nothing had been done. Was told they only had one size 12 sole left and needed to order another. Needless to say, after two weeks and nothing done I asked for the shoes back and will take elsewhere. People I work with told me not to go there but its really convenient...wont be back even tho i have to walk past it every day...twice.

I will never return here and will steer as many people as possible away from this place. To begin with, the owner was incredibly rude. I parked in a spot outside the shop in a parking spot that was marked as reserved for the shoe store. Before I even was fully out of my car, the owner immediately came through the front door and walked towards me while using multiple obscenities and slurs to inform me that this was his spot and I needed to Get the f*** out of it. The owner was incredibly unprofessional, ignorant, and aggressive. He clearly was having a bad morning and decided to take it out on the first person he saw.As for the actual work, I had shoes shined and the heels replaced last week and they used a black heel on a brown shoe. Who does that?If you decide to patronize this place, good luck.EDIT: So not only is the owner rude and ignorant, but also a liar. What a great business model.

I bought my dress shoes here a few years ago and loved them. I moved out of town but since then whenever Im home I bring them back and he gets them to just look just like they did the day I bought them. From what Ive seen you cant beat the price or the quality. Excellent work!

Great Service, Excellent Customer Service! Had my FAVORITE shoes repaired on my lunch break. Owner went above and beyond to repaint some Sharpie marker repairs I had done myself :) I will go here again! I highly recommend this business.

I originally took my wedge hill to be repaired. When I picked up the shoe you could see glue on the wedge and the leather strap was dyed to cover up glue on it but the color didnt match the other shoe. He couldnt remove the glue from my wedge and didnt refund my money. The next day I wore the heels hoping no-one noticed the discrepancy between the two shoes. My wedge heel separated from the strap in public. The shoe was worse than it was prior to taking it to this shoe repair place. If you have issues with high heels or wedge heels look somewhere else.

My 2 shoes are like new! What great way to put off an expensive purchase. I just discovered my daughter had grown out of all her clothes at the same time I saw the bad shape my Fall shoes were in. (A mild economic crisis!) Thanks to Contemporary Shoe, I wont need to buy new shoes for quite awhile and daughter and I are both presentable! THANKS!!Plus the owner is so friendly and professional. Rare to find this level of service nowadays.

Love this place. Its the only place I go for shoes. Mark constantly beats AEs online prices and youre buying local.Ive purchased 4 new pairs, had 2 pairs re-soled, and received several complimentary shoe shines.so buy some shoes and hear a story or two from an interesting guy.

Fabulous, fast and friendly -- and, I might add, a lifesaver. I lost the sole of my shoe a few hours before I had a job interview and Contemporary fixed me up on time and at a really reasonable rate. I cant thank him enough for putting my crisis at the top of his to do list and getting me on my way. Incidentally, I aced the interview ;)

Been wearing the same pair of wolverine 1,000 miles for a while now. I take them into to get re soled and shined up about once a year. Such a great investment.

I was sure I would need to throw away my favorite boots. The heal was coming off and underneath looked bad. I was sure Mark wasnt going to be able to help me. To my surprise, the next day he got a hold of me and told me that not only could he help me, but he could do it for a fraction of the cost he had expected! Thanks Mark! My boots are better than new and Im happy to tell people how awesome and quick it was.

I left Michigan for good before I can pick up my pair of ankle boots. The owner of the shop end up mailing my shoes through UPS to me without additional charge. They did an excellent job to replace the sole of the boots as well ($20). I definitely recommend this shop to anybody living in lansing area!
