I haven’t shopped at or supported this store in a very long time because of my experiences. They used to have an employee stationed at the exit that was employed solely to awkwardly inspect and review customer purchases. A customer could not leave without the inspection. The customer distrust was 100% uncomfortable. On one occasion, an employee followed me around the store and tried to hide on an upper level (not accessible to customers) as I browsed. Once he realized that I saw him, he retreated with a look of utter disappointment. I’ve spent my money elsewhere since then!

Great service! They backup their products. The repair department is fantastic. They fix everything, in house, even if you didnt buy it there. They fix, Wind instruments, Keyboards, Guitars, Audio equipment, and fix it Right. They sell products based on your needs, not, what they need to sell. Im a full time professional musician. Ive toured the world. Theyve helped me stay in business. Special thanks to the electronic repair department for emergency repair on gig day, saving the gig more times than I can count. Ive done business with them for more than 30 years and will continue to do so. They are The Full Service music store.

Ive been calling the 337-9700 number and havent been able to get through to anyone, not even the operator...I live far out, trying to get a hold of the repair and or organ repair department. I dont want to come all the way out and your out of stock or dont have what I need...is there another number I can call? please respond

🚫BUYER BEWARE🚫 Marshall Music has great products, instrument servicing, and some fantastic employees...but Debra in the Finance department is NOT one of them. God help you if you ever have to speak with this woman. If youre going to buy an instrument from these guys pay cash outright. I had multiple account issues with automatic payments and unfortunately every time I had to speak with Debra she spoke to me like I was trash. I was courteous in every interaction and still her voice dripped with contempt. I work in customer service and if I treated people the way she treated me I would lose my job. I fell behind on a few payments due to the ongoing problem with their automatic payment system and having just moved our mail was not being forwarded correctly so we hadnt received any notices. She sent a repo man to our home who blocked us into our driveway and refused to move. This retired cop shoved his badge in my face and screamed at me that he wasnt leaving without the instrument. We had to call the police for assistance and we paid off the instrument. If anyone that cares from Marshall Music reads this please remind Debra it costs NOTHING to be decent. For anyone reading this who is deciding whether or not to make a purchase do NOT finance unless you have some serious street cred. this place resorts to intimidation to collect. Wow.😳😟😢

My son takes violin lessons here. His teacher is great, I think. Kind, skillful and knowledgeable. He has been learning many skills. He likes to go there every week.

I am in Traverse City and the store up here is really nice. The staff is great! I have had to send some guitars to Dave in Lansing and this guy is awesome at fixing and setting up guitars! If you want your complex guitar set up the right way, bring it to Dave! He is the guitar set up man. You will be WOWed at how he does it!

I like supporting the local economy and Marshall Music is the closest music store to me. However, the several experiences Ive had with Marshall Music are poor.1) Their prices are like shopping for a car. What kind of deal can you get me? I dont have the time or the patience to dicker for the lowest price. The prices are higher than online, but equal to other retail music stores.2) Inventory is not expansive. Almost everything Ive bought had to be ordered, except for cables and guitar stings, etc. It takes as long to order from Marshall as it does to order it online.3) Their customer service is average. The customer service reps dont seem to know the inventory, know when new gear is coming in, why one product is better over another (besides the obvious price differences).4) Their return policy in embarrassing. 3 days. 3 days to try it out and if you dont like, too bad.If you would like shop here, I would recommend price checking online, then bringing in a copy. I do think they price-match.

High priced with very poor people being used for private lessons. These people don’t understand that music is one of the building blocks in a young persons development, not THE one thing that must be the only focus. Ironically, these people are far from what most of us would consider successful or where we would want our kids to end up. Think about who you want teaching your kids. Also, the person we had to deal with was a jerk who made my (extremely successful and positive) daughter cry. She has never done that before or since. These guys are really low class.

Thank you to the guitar repair guru Marshall Music has working for them. His name is Josh. I have for weeks now been having horrible tuning issues with my acoustic Washburn that cannot be blamed on humidity. I decided a new set of tuning pegs should fix it. Went to marshall Music Lansing store. Was greeted within 2 minutes. Told the employee my problem. Within 5 minutes he found Josh. Josh first gave my guitar a auick once over and my truss rod also was off. He also said my favorite words; we could liwer the action a bit more. Which I had just lowered. Josh guided me to a mid range priced set of tuning pegs. And then he said he could have it done in about 2hrs. I didnt even plan to get em on til next week. Well he was done in an hour and a half. My guitar sounds and feels even smoother to play. Maintaining perfect tone now, with a new set less than 6hrs old. Thanks Josh and Marshall Music.Play on.

Very happy with trumpet lessons in the lansing store. Also, excellent selection of sheet music for piano and for trumpet. Store is always clean and staff friendly.

This is going to sound strange. If I had a brass musical instrument I cared about, no matter how damaged, I would keep reading.I have a keyring that I have had for 40 years. Obviously it is special to me. Sentimental value FAR above monitarial value.Part of this brass key ring had worn to being razor sharp instead of solid. A Google search on brass repair led to Marshalls . The worst they could do was laugh, so I asked.Within 24 hours they had repaired my signature keyring to better than original. They didnt laugh. They fixed 40 years of wear without judgement.If they take that kind of care with a KEYRING imagine how they care about your treasured Instruments.I am beyond impressed.

I would never recommend signing a contract with Marshall Music. We received, in poor condition and already broken, an Alto Sax for the total rented fee of $2,029 or $60/month. The instruments are junk! I even paid an initial rent repair and insurance of $100 extra. It states in no form on the contract to call or put in writing your wish to terminate your monthly rental agreement, but does state on the contract you can submit the rented instrument to the band director, or school Administrator, to be returned to Marshall Music. I assumed this had been done, only to discover multi late payments and a repossession status 😡 Marshall Music has no interest in helping or correcting the issue with their customers, even with the extra fees paid!

My family and I have been a customer since 1973. We first went there when they were having their Moving Sale Blow Out when they moved from S. Washington location to the Frandor location. I have been there many a time drooling over Gibsons, Martins, and Fenders. Some of those guitars are are so finely crafted they are actually pieces of artwork. Marshalls has always been quite free with letting you look at, handle, and even play their fine inventory. We bought a few mid priced instruments on layaway or other financing. I bought a few, my kids bought a few, and my brother spent the long dollar and bought his dream Gibson Les Paul Custom. (payments) We have all been quite satisfied and consider Marshalls to be a cultural asset to the community. The number of doors that they must of opened to young budding musicians over the last 7 decades be must enormous. Marshalls sells a full range of instruments, drum kits, pianos, organs, wind, violins, lesson books, and even has a teaching staff that gives private lessons. They also host various community events in house that bring musicians together. Marshalls offers intangible things and services the internet sellers could never dream of providing. Go Marshalls!
