Said they wont take this back or store credit because the box is supposedly damaged and its not new. Never verbally told me it was not refundable when purchasing it. but proceeded to point at a sign on the other side of the store that said all sales final. I never even took it out of the box. It wasnt even a special order it came off there shelf! My company wont be shopping here anymore!

The lady that works their is absolutely rude and doesn’t let you do a whole lot of looking. And if you need advice of something that isn’t theirs, don’t take it there, they won’t help you with anything. As a matter of fact they are highly against helping you with anything that isn’t theirs, and it seems to offend them quite well. And don’t ask for any kinds of help, because they can’t be bothered with that. 0/10 would not recommend……Ever.

Tried to return an item and was told they have a no return policy which isnt posted by the way. I do understand somewhat considering the type of merchandise they sell but I feel at times it would be appropriate to accept a return. In my case I spoke to a salesman who recommended the item I ultimately purchased. Turns out it was no where close to what I needed but yet they would not take it back. It was in excellent unused condition with all the paperwork and packaging material undisturbed. I honestly opened the box to see it. No tape or any other means present to deter opening the box. I simply opened the lid. When I spoke to Mr Shieds he came across as arrogant and uninterested in my issue. He did say he would speak to the salesman and call me back...I never heard from him.

Charged a 20% restocking feed for a $160 item bought the day before and returned in perfect condition. Guy gave a lot of grief about needing to return it. Pretty ridiculous for a retail store.

Shields has a huge selection of electronics repair parts for professionals, and all the tools a hobbyist could ask for. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. If you are headed there for a small purchase keep in mind that any purchase less than $20 must be a cash transaction (no cards or accounts).

Just about anything electronic on the shelf or they can get it. And decent price.

Shields is a fantastic family owns electronic supply store. they have great personal service that you are not going to get online. They carry a large inventory and are extremely knowledgeable.

A little higher than the web but the personal service is well worth the difference. I have always had great service there. One person said that they bought something and tried to return it. I have never see anyone selling electronics that would accept returns. Go to Walmart. They take anything back. On another note, My dad did business with them in the 60s - he used to fix tube TV and got the tubes there - I guess it is now and op-amp or something. Tubes have a place as they make better sound and picture.

Went in to the store to get a cable fixed. Bill was able to not only fix my cable that no one else would even touch, he was able to build me another one just like it. Very friendly and professional guys, but before I left the store I bought 9mm ammo, who would have thought. Great place.

First of all I wanted to support a local business,that was a mistake .I ordered a few cable installation tools thinking it would be nice to have spares in case I needed them. Since I work out of town, I went ahead and paid to have them shipped to my house. When I get home two months later,I find nothing has been shipped. So I return to the store,to be made fun of about taking so long to pick up products. Then they cannot find tools that I ordered. They reordered tools, but didnt ship to my house again. When I returned to store,I was made fun of again. When I explained once again,that I worked out of town,they started looking for products again,only to find they didnt have them. Thank to these BOZOS I order all of needs online.

I own a PC Repair and A/V Installation company. We are a small business and we buy a lot of my cables and hardware online because the prices are hard to beat. However, I have found that on some things Shields Electronics is actually cheaper than a most online shops, and ALL local shops (including the big box stores). And when I need something short notice theres no better place to go in the Knoxville area.Since the first time I went in Jacqueline has been my go to gal and she always provides excellent service, whether shes checking to see if she can get me a better price or verifying that what shes offering me is the right part or product for my needs.I have never regretted shopping at Shields Electronics.

2/5 because I’ll probably never go back. The service is fantastic. Nothing has a prices marked on it. There may be three of the same type of item but no idea what the cost of each is. Most of the items I wanted were anywhere from a few dollars above market to 2-3x market cost. Fantastic nice folks, but frustrating to shop. On the receipt it says they still charge a 20% restocking free, who does that anymore? The they do have layaway which is nice. Nice business but not for an internet savvy millennial.

Great place to get your Electronics

I asked them to help me select a special power cable adapter for a new graphics card I was installing on an older PC. Although I had limited information to give them regarding the different types of connectors, I gave them photographs of what I was trying to connect. I was a novice at that time, so I needed professional support and I depended on them to make the appropriate selection from a few options. They made the WRONG choice of adapter style and it did not work for my hardware. I could have forgiven their mistake and my inconvenience of having to drive back, but what is completely inexcusable is that they REFUSED to make an exception to their NO RETURNS POLICY in light of this. Its possible they could have knowingly selected the wrong part on purpose just to make another sale. The second part they sold me worked, but now I was out an additional $30. And to add insult to injury, they started calling the police on me because I wasnt giving up on getting a refund. This was my first and only experience with Shields; it was a few years ago. Considering how much money I have spent elsewhere since then, on the kinds of products they sell, they should be sorry they lost this customer. I hope their greedy, gouging prices and ridiculous, strictly-enforced policies cause them to go out of business soon.... They need to feel the pain they have caused many, and maybe learn sympathy along the way.

Not worth the trip. I was surprised that nothing was priced and when I did get a price on something is was $75, which cost $50 at Home Depot and $15 at Amazon. I would love to shop local but lets be reasonable here. Also the people there talk politics and they are quite crude and unprofessional while doing it. I wont go back and I certainly will not encourage anyone to go there in the future.

They have anything and everything an electrical engineer, techie, or telecom electrician could ever want. The front desk is well staffed, and the employees go out of their way to help you.

Like comic book guy from the Simpsons, only for electronics. Elitist, pretentious, disaffected, and completely overpriced. They dont know their own stock, so theyll just say they have it, then they will blame it on you for coming to get it. Somehow the internet hasnt gotten this one yet??? It has gotta be spite that fuels them.

Customer service is a bit gruff, but they will help you find exactly what you need, even if you dont know if what you need exists. Good stock of parts and okay prices.

The customer service sucks and if you are a person of color its probably even worse. You can be standing right in front of them and they pretend like they dont see you, and would offer another person some assistance.there are no prices on any of the items, and that is unclear on how they set there prices and your not told as they ring your item up and you look at your receipt. Which clearly states no refunds and will charge you for restocking fee

I agree with all the other reviews written here. Their no returns policy makes it very difficult to do business with them. It would be a smart business decision to bring their business into the 21st century of great customer service by changing this very onerous business practice. My recommendation is to make your purchases on line or shop at another more customer friendly business. I can understand and appreciate a no return policy for electronic parts where there is no way to diagnose whether or not the purchaser damaged the product, but for unopened electrical cords and cables where it is obvious that there is not damage. And, then to make you feel like an idiot after you dont see their No Returns sign that is camouflaged by junkie looking parts. Just another example of why small businesses who are not customer focused are being swallowed by internet commerce and giant retailers.

How is this place still in business? They dont accept returns and if you talk them into it they hit you with a return fee (20%). No prices on anything. Amazon had the same product for 90% cheaper.

They are primarily setup for B2B sales, not the public. Also about half of their stuff is in the back so its not really stop-n-browse friendly.They do have some stuff that you wont find anywhere else. Need a Raspberry Pi or a third party 20 year old Gameboy charger right now? I dont either, but they have it if you do. And can give up an arm and a leg to get it right now.

Used them for years. These people are professionals. I bring in all sorts of strange tech problems and they get me the answers. Yes you buy it you own it. But I dont have to come back 3 times cause the teenager working the counter sold me the wrong thing. They dont sell cheap garbage and they have skills. Plus the fitting I have had them do on cables last forever. I have a BNC over 10 years old from a fitting they did. It hung 80 feet in the air. I took it down and it was tight. Sometimes more expensive than online, but worth it to me. The people that work there know whats up. Used for years and have nothing but positive things to say about both the work and the product.

Just went to shields to buy a fuse. In my 65 years I have never seen such bad customer service. The women that helped me was so offensive that I walk out not buying the 19$ fuse. Went home and ordered on line for 5$ will arrive tomorrow. Have no idea how they stay in business!!!!!

Shop online. Should re-name this store wasted time and money. Not a single price tag on anything in the store, likely because everything is so horribly over-priced any logical human would walk out immediately. 120V relay module controlled by 5V input would have costed me 80+ dollars there to build and was only 7 bucks on amazon already mounted to a board with built in LED indication lights....It doesnt take Nostradamus to figure out they will go the same route as Radioshack....out of buisness.
