We have been customers at the TGE Joliet for over a century!!!! We are completely satisfied with each purchase we have made. Our latest was an entire new pool package. Due to the pandemic there was a delay with our installation date. This was not do to the store but due to production. None the less they made up for our delay. GUS and the staff in the pool department not only answered my many phone calls they made sure that we were happy and notified all through the process. They were over accommodating, professional, and helpful. I would highly recommend this store to anyone!!!!

I called The Great Escape to see if they had 40lbs buckets of the 1 inch power tabs. I was told by a lady that they had them in stock and I asked her how many and she said not sure but I know we have them in stock. I got off the phone with her and drove the hour out there to find they do NOT have the 1inch tablets in stock and havent since the weekend. I wouldnt have packed my infant daughter in the car and drove the 2 hours in hopes they had some. They didnt even try and make it right by offering 4 of the 10lbs pails to make my trip not a complete waste of time. Next time when a customer takes the time to call make the effort to check for the product.

Used to be a good place to shop, now seems to be run by Muppets. Waited 3 months for an item that they said would be in stock in 7 days. Had to issue chargeback on credit card to get refunded as the check they claim to have processed never showed up. Would advise avoiding if you like customer service

We purchased a table and chairs at Great Escape over 15 years ago and it is a wonderful set that continues to be quality product. This is the reason I went to get a quality chair for my grandson with special needs who likes to rock. I mentioned this to Vinnie Piotone, who directed me to a chair that he told me will last over 15 years.We purchased the Kenzo padded sling chair, but approximately 3 weeks the chair broke. They were very good about exchanging it for a new chair. However, the new chair broke about a week later, but this time at the welds. This had nothing to do with him rocking. Thank goodness he didnt get hurt.I was told to e-mail pictures to Vinnie Piotone. I asked for either my money back or store credit. I was told to return the chair and would be given store credit.When I returned the chair, I was repeatedly told it broke because of abuse. I tried to explain there was no abuse, but they wouldnt listen. Vinnie assumed my grandson rocked so hard it broke. I tried to explain this wasnt the case.Vinnie told me I was getting store credit, but wouldnt give me a card or paper that indicated I had store credit and made it sound like I had to choose an item to purchase that day. I felt pressured to find something. I was told I could not purchase any type of rocking chairs. I found a bistro set with 4 chairs, and once again was told by Vinnie, he would not sell it to me, because it had chairs that rocked. Why does he get to make the decision what I can and cant purchase??I felt forced to buy a table. Yes, we could use the table, but not at this time and I really didnt want to spend another $1000.00 on it. However, in order to get the credit, I felt like I had to make that decision that day.I was told by Vinnie, that he was doing me a favor. He proceeded to call me honey. He told me he felt bad for me and that is why he made the decision to give me store credit, and that he probably would get in trouble for doing it. This is why I give this store a 1 rating, and will NEVER return! He wasnt doing me a favor, and I know they get reimbursed for the chair. It was a faulty weld!!When my husband picked up the table and tried to address Vinnie, he told my husband I dont want to talk about it . My husband addressed Vinnies inappropriate behavior with the manager.I felt disrespected, therefore will NEVER be back!

The Great Escape Joliet is a very welcoming business and we were greeted right away. Our salesperson was very helpful and knowledgeable. Our buying experience for our pool was hassle-free and we never felt pressured. I would recommend The Great Escape to anyone!

Update: 3 weeks later and hoop still not installed. I am quickly learning this is all due to the company the contract out for these installs. A&D services. While the crew is great they do not control the business or the scheduling. That is where the problems lie. If you purchase a hoop or pool through Great Escape and they tell you that is who will be doing your install, run...or it will be a nightmare.Tried to order a basketball hoop last year with no luck. They gave me a tip and told me if I put it on layaway in the fall then I would first in line for install in the spring. They earned my business that way even though they are not even the nearest Great Escape to me. Every place else just gave the short answer they are out and I’m SOL. Fast forward to fall. I think they got sick of me calling every week because after a few weeks they finally gave in and let me put the hoop on layaway. Great, should be first in line come spring! Fast forward again to May 3rd. Hoop delivered, delivery guys said I would be getting a phone call right away to schedule installation. No call, called GE. They said they would email them and if I don’t hear anything in 24 hours call back. Didn’t hear anything so called back again Wednesday, we’re going to send another email and to call back again if don’t hear anything in 24 hours. No call. So I called back on Thursday, this time I got a manager and I was asking for the installation people’s number so I can bug them instead since I’m not getting anywhere with GE. He would not give me the number, basically laughed at me and said “I don’t think you need to call everyday” (even though this is exactly what the salesman told me to do) and assured me “I’m sure you’re on their list”. Totally dismissive that I have a $2500 unassembled basketball hoop laying in my front yard for anyone to come steal. He didn’t care. Called Friday and got the salesman again who said he knows Dave personally and will give him a call and assured me he will call me back. This is late Monday night and still no call. I don’t know what else to do! So incredibly frustrating! Why was it even delivered with no installation in sight?? Side note: does anyone know the number to A&D? I don’t have anymore information than that (that is who one person told me they use for installation).

I love this store. Everyone is so helpful. I bought my spa with Tony and he was very helpful. Anytime I call or come in with a question the staff is always happy to help me. They are all very knowledgeable and happy to help.

I’m very happy with the sale & install of my 27 ft pool (Aug 2019). Gus was awesome at explaining everything in detail since I never owned a pool before. From the beginning of sale, installation, balancing water chemicals and closing of my pool for the season we had nothing but a great experience with the Joliet location. Highly recommend.What to expect during install.. nothing negative about it and sorry for long review but if your like me and never owned a pool before the more facts the better. No surprisesBefore I purchased a pool I needed to make sure that a digger would fit thru my fenced in yard without tearing down any panels. 1st contractor didn’t have the right equipment but another one did. Take it into consideration that a digger driving thru your yard will leave you with dead grass spots and worn down tires tracks .. I threw down grass seed and watered the worn down spots and my grass was good as new in a few weeks.. maybe use boards of your own for them to drive on if your worried about it. Next, the contractors did not tear down the empty boxes that all the equipment came in. Not a big deal to me as I broke down the boxes myself and recycled them for garbage day. Once I got my pool filled I had a couple minor leaks dripping from my skimmer and pump. They came out the next day and tightened up all the fittings and checked everything over. They offered to backfill my pool with pea gravel for additional fee. They did a great job on that. We buried our pool 10” down. After all I don’t like my neighbors much and it’s perfect that my pool sits below my 6 ft fence. If your considering digging deeper down it does get costly .. cost me additional $2000 to go 10 inches. It took about 4 truck loads to haul the dirt away but discuss the price with the contractor so your not surprised if you decide to dig deeper.. My yard is not just dirt it has lots of big rock buried into it . Can’t wait till next pool season

Do not buy a pool from this company. The hire horrible pool installation company. The great escape makes false claims on returning phone calls and does nothing but make excuses for the installation company.

Gus was great - super patient and didnt pressure us at all to make a purchase. Answered all of our questions, understood our situation, budget and what we were looking for and helped make recommendations that felt fair and right. Were not ready for the hot tub yet, but are scheduling it to arrive in early summer, so TBD on the delivery and install - but so far so good!

When I walked in the establishment I was greeted immediately. Tony was very thorough, patient, and informative. I am so elated he was my representative.

I highly recommend The Great Escape in Joliet. Before purchasing a pool from them we went to many pool stores and there was no one as helpful and knowledgeable about pools as The Great Escape. Gus sold us our pool and spent a few hours with us going over our options and what pool would fit us as a family. He was not pushy and wanted to make sure we were pleased with our pool and our purchase. Not only did everyone at The Great Escape help us the day we bought our pool but they continue to! Whenever we are in the store to purchase supplies for the pool or even do water testings everyone is so helpful from the workers at the front desk to the sales associates and the manager. When Gus told, us we would love this pool and the maintenance would be super easy he was not kidding. We are so happy we decided to make this large purchase with The Great Escape!

Horrible service. Was looking for someone to help me with a hot tub and saw an employee which name I think is Gus and when asking for help told me to wait a second and took forever. He was helping out a woman and then another woman asked for help in which he immediately helped. I guess if you dont have long hair, breasts and a nice body this employee will not help out and leave you waiting. Ended up going to a different location of Great Escape which they really helped and were very detailed oriented. Got all the information I needed from Chris and was able to order my tub. I will have to wait a while for it but it will be worth it i guess.

I was at this location this past Friday looking for a patio table that was destroyed in a tornado. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. They immediately asked me if they could help me. I explained what happened and what table I purchased. They knew right away what table. I looked around and decided to come back on Saturday with my husband. I met Tony explained what happened, what I needed and he was awesome. He showed me the different tables and my options. He told me I had options for cushions and to take some different colors and place on the chairs. Great idea. I have the chairs and cushions but the cushions were 16 years old. I even purchased an umbrella and he went through and explained everything to me. I love this store and Tony was great. The people I met on Friday were also great but did not catch their names. Thank you for all your help and I look forward to purchasing more pieces in the future for our patio.

I bought a sauna and hot tub 5 years ago. Both still going strong. Love them. I recently bought a treadmill. Gus was so knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me identify my needs and wants then set me up with the perfect treadmill. He didn’t try to sell me the most expensive one. He sold me the one that was best for me.

Hello ; I would like to say that I had a very pleasant expierience at the great escape in Joliet IL. My wife and I purchased an above ground pool from here many years ago and sadly it just gave out due to age .We were so glad to see that things havent changed at all.We purchased a new above ground pool as a replacement and were treated very well.Our salesman Gus Inquired about our needs and our budget .He then presented 3 very viable options for us to chose from .There was no sales pressure he was informative and very proffesional. Gus thanked us for the return business a drew up a really great deal for our needs and price range .We picked the one that was rite for us and walked away completely content on our purchase. Gus even gave us his personal cell number should anything change .I would certainly recommend anyone to buy from here. Especially first time pool buyer .Its a very big desicion to make financially .Gus broke it down and explained every step to us . We were in and out in two hours actually looking foward to our pool installation knowing we made the rite move shopping there .Im sure well be back soon .

Products are good. Hard to find a good salesman. It also seems that the only person who is knowledgeable and wants to help you is Tony. I walked around the store looking to spend $$ and the young employees stood around talking to eachother and totally ignored me.

07/20/2020, I purchased a swimming pool at the Joilet location. On 08/25/2020, my swimming pool was installed, and it came with some unexpected surprises, which I wasnt happy about. I was told that someone had to install my pool heater, so the pool installers placed my heater on the side, which that was headache. On the same day of the installation, I realized that the inferno II cleaner did not arrive with all the items that were shipped. I called the store to inquire about the inferno, and was told I would get a call back. Since I didnt get a call back for several days, I then drove to store and was told that the Inferno was on back order. As of 9/08, I havent heard on any update in regards to the Inferno.I posted my pool on social media, which friends and family have inquired about, but have told them its been a bad experience since the day of the installation. First time being a pool owner, it has been a very bad experience. I have to reach out to friends and family for help. Also, the Great Escape on 87th have been very helpful.

They were not able to locate the piece for my pool that they sold to me originally. Kind of puzzled.

The sales staff at the Joliet location was very patient and helpful in learning our needs and then showing us a number of sunroom sets that might fit our space. They were knowledgeable about all of the pcs and even moved furniture sets around to help us see if we could mix and match the sets we liked to make it work in our space. Cant wait to redo our outdoor patio space next year so we can furnish that as well!

Very helpful staff! They dont just take your money when you buy something and thats it. They are always ready to answer your questions anytime. Also they dont try to sell you anything you dont need. We bought a pool from there last year and never had one and had a million questions and they answered them all. This year we were buying a new tool for this piece I broke for our pool and asked about opening our pool. They could have easily been pressured into buying more product beyond the opening kit but were told that everything we needed was in the kit we purchased online

They took care of us with our Pool order and install. First off, I’d like to point out we showed up right about 7:30 before they were about to close. Tony stayed behind until about 9pm by the time we made up our minds and bought a pool. He was very personable, and was not over selling. The experience was so comfortable that we even decided to change our pool to the best pool they sell (seascape). The installer Mike was awesome, truly! He did such an outstanding job, came and installed earlier than expected. I had a slight issue with the pool next day, the walls started to buckle a bit. I called Tony, and I called Mike. They were both right on it, Mike came made a 5 second adjustment, the pool is perfect! It was a pleasure to do businesses with you Tony!! I highly recommend the great escape!!

We purchased our first hot tub with Mark and were very nervous and had no idea what we wanted, he took the time to explain the pros and cons with the different brands and we LOVE our new purchase. We went into the store a week after getting the hot tub with a sample of the water and Mike took the time to educate us on how to get our levels in check and some tips to maintain it. We have been very happy with their overall service and will continue to use them.

I highly recommend The Great Escape in Joliet. I was searching for a gazebo for my backyard that could withstand high winds and winter weather. Tony was very helpful. He was not pushy at all and gave me all the details I needed to make my decision. I purchased the Verona 11x14 and could not be happier. It comes with screens & curtains for all 4 sides, and has a great sky light. It did not move an inch after the high winds we’ve been through in the last few months. It is well built and high quality. I am so happy with my gazebo!!

We went to the great escape to purchase a pool and it was truely an amazing experience. Gus was very knowledgable and helped us pick the best pool for our family. Never in my life have I met a genuinely honest salesman, it comes down to just being a good person, I could tell right away he wasnt just another phony. He went above and beyond by keeping in touch throughout the entire process. We are first time pool owners and had A LOT of questions. He always got back to me right away and was always more than happy to help. Before making this purchase we had a few private pool companies quote us and great escape had a better quality product at a better price . You really cant go wrong making a purchase here.

This is where I go to purchase all of my pool supplies. I can buy online and have my items delivered or I can go in the store and shop for what I need. The staff here will help with any problem that you may have with your pool, it helps to bring in a sample of your water. They also carry outdoor furniture, spa, pool tables and other games.

This is the biggest and best store out of all the great escape stores. They have a huge selection and the staff is so nice and helpful. We were there for 3 hours picking out all of our patio furniture and Mike was incredibly helpful. He walked by and checked in on us and explained different features to us, but without being pushy. We felt taken care of. We highly recommend this store, this staff and especially Mike!

I like Great Escape because as busy as they can get they always have enough people on staff to get you out of there quickly. The prices on pool chemicals are the best I can find, they even beat Walmart. They offer free testing of your pool water if youre having trouble getting it balanced.

ABOUT SIX YEARS AGO WE BOUGHT A PATIO SET. IT WAS EXPENSIVE BUT WELL WORTH THE MONEY. ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO ONE OF THE ROCKER CHAIRS BROKE DOWN. I WENT TO THE STORE AND SPOKE TO VINNY, HE SAID IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY TOLD ME TO TAKE A PHOTO AND SEND IT TO, HE GAVE ME THE EMAIL ADDRESS. I DID AS HE SAID, THREE WEEKS LATER I RECEIVED THE NEW PART AT NO COST. THANK YOU VINNY AND THE GREAT ESCAPE.
