Convenient location, comfortable atmosphere. A few more varieties of non dairy milk options would be nice to choose from, soy was free but oat cost $0.50 extra. We ordered four different drinks and honestly they all tasted the same. They weren’t bad, just nothing terribly exciting or different about them. It was nice to find an actual local coffee shop, besides chains or gas stations, and the staff was very friendly. I would like to try Volta again, next time I visit Gainesville.

Volta Coffee, Tea & Chocolate is a super chill coffee shop. Their pour over section of the menu didnt really have any good descriptions of the beans and what the flavor profile were for all of them. However, the barista was more than happy to explain all their flavor profiles to me. I had their Guatemala Lucia Pablo because I was in the mood for a coffee with floral notes and so their recommendation was spot on. It was very yummy. The mug provided was stylish too.Ill have to try their chocolate drinks next time because it appears they use fresh chocolate and you cant go wrong with that!

Volta Coffee, Tea & Chocolates is the best example of true Southern Hospitality! The lovely shopkeepers were welcoming and attentive. I was in a very bad mood when I arrived at the shop and marched directly into the bathroom. No one stopped me and greeted me, kindly. I felt I was welcomed. I came to the counter and I ordered a cappuccino and browny. The drink was strong & the browny was sweet & melting (with a slight crisp on the sides). All was absolutely perfect. I asked for local information and was given very detailed info on what I was looking for. I felt like I was at the tourist info place. After sitting & sipping my drink, I started to feel wonderful; The place has very good energy. I could not finish my pastry and walked to the counter to grab some napkins, so I could take this delicious slice home. The lovely lady, Kami ( I hope I am spelling it right) saw me straggling and offered two types of to-go wraps that I could use. It put a big smile on my face. I felt like I was visiting family. I felt genuine care.Thank you, Volta! May Karma be with you,

Pretty good third-wave coffee shop. While there I had a Burundi and a Colombian espresso, both roasted by Ruby. The shots were very good, although the preparation was a little sloppy—both ended up with a few grinds in the cup, likely due to some haste in preparation. The espresso was served in a really nice, heavy, thick ceramic cup. I would, however, have appreciated some sparkling water with it, as is commonly served with espresso.I was disappointed that there was only one bag of coffee for sale. I bought it for family, and returned the next day for another (for myself). They said they had no more anywhere for sale. This is a first time for me, visiting a coffee shop who have no coffee for sale. I hope their stock isnt usually this limited. The baristas were friendly, and there was an abundance of good seating, even with a lot of people there. WiFi is protected, but the password is written on the board. Parking was easy, but I was in town for a holiday week, so I dont know how it usually is.

So this place is great and has been for years... but you know you will always get an extra side of stuckupness. For someone who has bad hearing, for the example, I should not feel bad or weird as a customer asking a question twice or asking for clarification. Other businesses operate in this pandemic with a smile, safely. Safety should not be a factor to enable elitism or general snobbery. Good coffee and canned fish tho... ps they just put the coffee out the side door table and don’t even tell you.

The environment and location is nice, I personally wish there were more comfortable seating and other coffee roasts available. From what I understand the owner judges coffees and chooses their favorites for the cafe. While I respect their methods for choosing roasts, I wish they would include other roasts besides just those with citrusy notes. I usually dont go here because of the coffee roasts available and the somewhat higher prices, but if I meet a group of friends here for coffee Im happy to join them.

Decent third-wave/speciality coffee shop. Ton of indoor seating and a few outdoor seating. When I was there at 6pm and it was dead. With that said, I am not sure what kind of vibe or group of people it would attract. Possibly a great place to study. Pretty chill atmosphere, with a modern/industrial design. The coffee was good, not superb! At the time they were only limited to Colombian origin for pour over and a Costa Rican for espresso.Overall I liked it would come again, but not head-over heals in love. Good place.

10112020, Latte with an extra shot, whole milk, and cinnamon no sweetener(Im sweet enough, Bricktop/Snatch): Stopped by during socially Vid distancing and in rain without an umbrella, so its tough work for any business to work a stay-outside, order-at-the-window condition like that. Fortunately, I dont melt. I had heard good things, and I was not disappointed. THAT was the smoothest latte ever. Only twice previously had I had such a similar, delicious experience: An actual bucks barista who you could see cared about what they were doing when making a Flat White with Vanilla(tastes like toasted marshmallows by the way.) and Toscaninis IceCream in Cambridge, MA and their Vanilla Latte made with 18% cream infused with vanilla beans for two weeks. Its always nice to add a positive, superlative to your life. Now, go get yourself one!

Came here as it was the best rated coffee shop in Gainesville. Was extremely disappointed. Cold brew was far on the weak side and watered down, even more so, with more ice; after a long struggle with the three employees standing around not knowing what kind of cold brew they had, we shouldve expected the worst. Even the soy latte was far worse than starbucks or any other chain cafe! Even tasted off or rancid, not even burnt! For their high prices the quality should be far superior than this trash that we received. Was so upset wanted to take my tip back!!

I went in for a quick pick-me-up and a straight black coffee (8 oz.) is $5.00.I was also having a conversation outside with a friend and I overheard that the owner of this place complained about the local artists who are currently painting the garage and making the parking garage a BEAUTIFUL art piece. The owner did not like a few paint strokes that got too close to his shop. After the artists completely fixed and repainted his shop, he complained to the city and shut down the entire project. Now all of these local artists can not complete this project because the city intervened and appealed to the owner of this overpriced coffee joint.

I don’t think I’ve ever given a place a lower rating because of their music choice, but Volta... you gotta stop with the music. They play a bunch of indie/alternative music, which I’ll admit isn’t my kind of music but I respect it. But the songs they choose to play are honestly awful, I’m talking screeching and random high pitched screams awful (like what?), and super distracting even with my headphones on. The coffee is sooo great though!! But also, please provide more seating (the seats being comfortable would also be nice).

This shop has great coffee, baristas who are friendly/care a lot about quality, delicious food, and usually has plenty of seating and fast WiFi. It’s expensive, even for a coffee shop, but in general the level of quality makes it worth it.The reason I gave three stars is because they really really need a non dairy milk option that works in hot drinks. I can’t have dairy unfortunately, and they have an organic soy milk that is great in cold drinks. However, for some reason when combined with espresso in the hot drinks it turns into this weird tofu-like thick gross concoction. I try it again every so often, and each time I’m reminded how bad it actually is.It’s been this way since I’ve been going there, which is at least a year at this point. I feel like it’s crazy to pay so much attention to detail with everything, which they definitely do, but then ignore the fact that the only non dairy milk option just doesn’t work in half of the drinks. Would happily change the review to 5 stars if this was changed!Edit: they got a new non dairy milk! All is well now.

This place is for coffee connoisseurs. This place is not for food, frilly drinks, and a bunch of overpriced cheaply made retail items. This place is for coffee. Where the employees and owners live eat and breathe coffee. Where their main focus is the proper execution of a well made coffee drink. And yes, it takes time. Why? Because it is being done right. And not Right Now! If you want a COFFEE experience, this is your place. If you dont really have an opinion about your caffeine, or what is put in the cup to actually make it palatable, chances are this place might disappoint.

One of the few coffee shops in Gainesville. I frequently visit this place and spend most of the day studying. There is a problem with the owners attitude. I constantly feel that he doesnt like the costumers at all. He hardly smiles and most of the time, he seems like he doesnt interested in at all. It feels really uncomfortable. Sometimes he takes the orders. When he does, it definitely feels like Im returning something to Walmart. Dude, we chose your place and you should be happy about it. Smile and be enthusiastic. Being an expert on coffee making is not enough, you need to communicate with your visitors. Start with just smiling and work on verbal communication.
