Their used books are usually a good deal and theyre pretty good about keeping the most popular childrens books in stock. They also have a lot of fun toys if youre looking for presents. An added bonus is that the staff are usually very kind and helpful.

Apparently this location chooses their own closing hours. Online says 9, sign on the door says 8, get there 735/740 & theyre closed. At least put a notice on the door saying youre closing early for whatever the reason may be, even a post on social media should suffice. Communication goes a long ways

Dont buy used records from this place.I came in and saw two original Bowie records, $15 dollars each, which I was interested in buying. But I was unsure about the quality of them, one showed signs of warping, so I asked two employees if they had a turn table to test them on. Both employees said that I couldnt, and I left without either of the records, or anything else for that matter.You cant expect someone to buy a used record, especially records that are 40+ years old, without them being able to proof it. You cant tell from the surface of the vinyl whether or not the record plays well. I wouldve been fine to simply play it on one of the Crosleys they have on the back wall.And about refunds, they told me if I had a problem with the records I could take them back within a week (not a hugely long time), but they wouldnt give me a refund, only store credit, which after the experience I wasnt comfortable with.Most real record stores will offer you the chance to test it, but of course, this places record section is more of an afterthought than anything you should spend time, or money in; $30 unspent.

Second time visiting this store, and came across several good deals on used DVDs and video games. Good service from the supervisor, who is knowledgeable about the stores inventory, and I was impressed to have left with some free CDs from the stores Free Bin.

Wow! I was getting ready to go inside when a young man came out carrying a box of books and comics. He was not happy that they offered him a lowball price for his items. He said that he would rather give them away, than sell them for that price, he set them down and told the people who were browsing books outside to take them for free. A couple of people were going through them when a store employee came outside with a box and started picking them up. The young man who put them there said that he had offered them to the people outside. The employee told him that he was just picking them up to put them in the free book box. The young man drove off, the employee walked the box of books inside, I went inside right after him. He never went near the free box, he took the books behind the counter where they take in books for resale. To me it was obvious that they now wanted to sell them. At that point I called my husband, who was already shopping and we both just left.

Wow. I was amazed by the absolute friendliness of the staff. Every associate I came in contact with was so helpful. One of my favorite stores.

Biggest used book store Ive been to yet! Great selection. Prices are a little higher than youd expect for used books. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They also have a bunch of other merch to browse. Definitely recommend! I will be back for sure!

The mens restroom is nasty in this place. Neglected unhealthy and shameful. Dried urine all over. Sticky floors, feces smered on bathroom stall walls....just ridiculous! And by the way... The merchandise is over priced for used collectibles! You can buy it new for the price they want.

A couple of months ago, I would have given 2nd & Charles a five-star review. However, today’s experience fell rather short.Yesterday, someone left several bags of assorted books outside my apartment building. Being a book-lover and taking into account the rainy weather, I decided to rescue the books and take them to 2nd & Charles. When I brought them to the counter, a woman came and rifled through a few of them and immediately told me they didn’t need any of them. I attempted to explain to her that I didn’t expect anything for the books and that I simply found them outside and didn’t want them going to waste. However, the woman shooed me away and told me to put the books in the Free Bin outside. I thanked her for helping me find a way to dispose of the books and went to put them in the bin. As I was driving away, I saw the male employee who had also been behind the counter walk out to the Free Bin and start looking through the books I had put in.Take what you will from this review. I won’t be going back to 2nd & Charles any time soon.

Massive place with toys, games, books and vinyls. Went to look for some vinyls unfortunately didnt find what I was looking for but they have a larger collection of rock vinyls.

Great place you can find some good deals but they are kind of out of touch with the cost of used games. As a result they will sell an $80 game for 20 but also still have wii consoles for $100. Worth checking for used games every little bit for some great deals

Took The Baabaa to find a pop up book. She had never been to a real bookstore. I explained the difference from a library. That place has sooo many books and other items. We were constantly getting distracted. Games for the gamers, music, puzzles and of course tons of books. Found what were were looking for. Of course we will be back. Need jigsaw puzzles. Yeah.

The customer service at the front desk is wonderful, and the selection of books and musical instruments is fantastic. However, I wouldnt spend any time at the buyback counter. They will say anything to avoid buying what you bring, and the staff at the buyback desk were unmotivated and rude.

This is a really nice store, with a wide array of merchandise, both new and previously loved. Plan on spending some time, there is a lot to see here! Books galore, vinyl records, lots of interesting gifts.

Staff was friendly, selection was awesome and they had a ton of sale and clearance items!

Got some free kids books out of the bin and grabbed some cheap comic books for me. Friendly, clean, and well organized. I hope they stick around!

We had a great experience at this 2nd and Charles. I havent had one since I moved to South Florida, so getting the chance during a trip was definitely taken. It is exact to other 2nd and Charles franchises, so you will know what to expect. I found a good handful of books. Associates helped when I was looking around. Overall, it is definitely as expected but still a good little outing for book lovers alike.

Lovely bookstore with records, CDs, DVDs/Blu-rays, video games, board games, and so much more. I come here any time I need a gift or a new board game for the family. Prices are great and they buy back tons of stuff for cash or store credit.The only grievance is the ordering of the books. It is so hard to find anything in the book section. I see some order in certain sections, but seemingly none in others.

Gf and I purchased a walking dead monopoly game from here a few weeks ago. While we finally unwrapped it to play only to find out it was used!!!! Its not a collectable, and costs 45.00 and was in now way marked as used. The store simply re wrapped a used item and sold it as new!! Buyer beware.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Workers were goofing off like children when they were supposed to be helping us. Brought about 25 books to be bought back. Each when new were around $20-25 and in PERFECT condition they only gave us about ¢4 per book! A complete SCAM! You could easily just donate or sell your books on eBay. On top of that, their used & new books are overpriced. You could easily just order books off of amazon or go to another store. DO NOT go to this store! It is a scam.

Great selection of new and used items. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My familly (including kiddos) always has a great time visiting this location. The store offers kids events (like bingo) on the weekends and the atmosphere is always a great one.

Shopped here for the very first time recently and my experience was amazing! The merchandise was a bit expensive but it’s very valuable for what it is. They had a large variety of movies, they also had many different console games and comic books to choose from. I’ll definitely be back!

Some of the signs around the store arent correct but they do have a large vatiety of book and comics, plus games and instruments.

I was surprised to find they have a nice selection of items on sale in all sections of the store. The employees I encountered that one day were all nice and patient. They also have a really good deal on used books. I will definitely be back again.

This place is awesome! I was looking for two books Hush Hush and Motherless Daughters. Hush was not in stock but I had the other book to look for. I forgot to get both of the employees names but neither stopped looking until they located it. This was my second visit and Im very pleased with each visit

They have a spot to sit down and play video games. They sell dvds, books, games and more! They even have a natural healing section. Its such a treat to go here! :) they also buy books, comics and games as well. Lovely place.

I went for their vinyl promotion that ends feb 2. However I noticed that the prices of the records were listed at more than the actual artist sells their own records for on their sites. So I ended up just ordering my vinyls directly from the artists since this store said they wouldnt price match.For example they had Ariana Grandes Sweetener for $40 when she sells it for $26

Only giving a second star because of the used book selection. DO NOT TRADE YOUR GAMES IN AT THIS STORE.I went in when I was looking at trading some games in a few weeks ago. I had already been to R U Game and GameStop to see what they were offering and what selection they had to see what I wanted to trade for. At both places I was offered between $20 and $23 for one of the games and $10 for the second one. At this place I was offered $15 for the pair. The guy have me a soul about how they have to still make money blah blah blah. Well both of the other stores not only offered better trade value, but their pricing on used games was also less.I dont buy vinyl, and use the library for my book needs, but if youre looking to buy and trade video games, go to GameStop or RU Game. If you dont believe me test it for yourself.

I really like this place. You can find some real good deals if you search hard enough. Im not as much of a book reader but they have a good video game, comic, and Blu Ray selection. They also have board games which is great! This is basically a books a million with trade in stuff.

My family loves 2nd and Charles. They have so much cool stuff I could browse forever. Tonight I got a small beginners guitar for 20 bucks. The staff is always nice and they have great deals.

Called before I left and asked of they had any switchs or swith lites. Was told they had 3 in stock. Drove almost an hour to the gainsvile florida location to pick one up. I asked the attendant behind the counter if they had one, without coming out to look he said it should be behind the glass. When i told him i didnt see one and asked him if saw it and maybe i just missed it he came out and saw there wasnt one he said oh well we had one when we closed last month, must have sold all of them. I was very disappointed with sevice.

Their music instrument selection is pretty good, but not as good as Guitar Center. Sometimes theyll get really great guitars in that have been used, but they go pretty fast.Their selection of video games is almost better than Gamestop. Their book selection isnt as good as Books a Million or Barnes and Noble, but is worth checking out.Their record collection is almost as good as a record store, if not better.

I love this store. Every time I make a trip into Gainesville I stop by and take a look around. The book prices are very reasonable and they big selection of other items as well ranging from comics, musical instruments, CDs, DVDs, board games, and all sorts of other things. Its a great store and I like the fact you can trade your used things that are just sitting around and collecting dust for store credit. Also the employees have always been polite and very helpful.

A good used book store, however my main interest is in used comic book trades and hardcovers, and they literally never have new stock of used books. I used to stop by here almost daily because new trades/hardcovers would show up from people trading them in, but now there is almost never anything new. They do stock newly released books, but I can get those anywhere, Im looking for used books that have been traded in. Maybe the trade in rate is so low that no one wants to sell them their books anymore? Rarely go here now because its always the same stock.

Buyback ends at 8pm, but this is not advertised anywhere in-store, online, or elsewhere on record. Maybe someone else in the reviews mentions this. Anyways, I get why employees may not have time or want to do buybacks on top of other responsibilities, but a simple note, plaque, sign, or sentence online would have saved me some time and trouble.Staff member who informed me that I was not to be helped was curt and unapologetic.

Decent restaurant, their main courses were pretty good. They do not offer any vegetarian options but thats OK because I hate animals.Every 30 minutes the animal robots put on a show for the kids, so thats nice. Overall, a great pizza arcade with a large swimming pool for the family.You can trade things you dont want for money, but they did not accept my wife, maybe they need to broaden their selection of tradable goods.

Not kid friendly even though they have a kid section. Extremely rude employee in the kid section. Anything that was removed from the shelf by our kids was immediately put back BY THEIR ATTENTIVE PARENTS. We were there to purchase kids books but we have no intentions of ever returning.

This was a while back but went in to purchase some POPS they put them on Hold for me until the day they could be sold, however when I called the day before hand to check on things the Order was gone. Disappointed for sure, apparently one of the Staff members decided to go against policy and purchase them before the date they were legally allowed out on the street. Never shopping here again.

Only 3 stars because finding books can be cumbersome sometimes. Otherwise, the staff is excellent and they have lots to choose from. Are always enjoy shopping here, it just takes a lot of time.

This has to be one of the worst places I have ever been to they try to rip you off on video game saying that the used price charting they have 1 gave her $55 brand new on price charting t $15 these people are Nothing but thieves do not take your video games there you will be ripped off and the worse cross the reserves ever

Good place for an occasional splurge, as they have a large selection of novelty and everyday entertainment items. A little on the expensive side for a lot of said items, but if youre in a rush and dont have the time to wait for your item to be delivered via Ebay or Amazon, this store probably has the item in stock. However, the staff leaves much to be desired. Theyre not impolite, theyre just not really easy to get ahold of when you need help.
